too thick and just made him sweat. Emory must have realized what Logan needed because he helped him out of the damn thing. Emory smiled at him, rubbing gentle circles on Logan’s shoulders.
There was growling from the front seat, and Logan had enough of it.
“Shut up, Clyde. I’m the one suffering over here because these two want to come early,” Logan grunted out. He was uncomfortable in every way. Even when contractions were happening, he felt hot and cold at the same damn time. He wanted out of his clothes. And he wanted Indigo.
Logan needed a distraction. He glanced over at Emory, who didn’t look fazed at all that Logan was very much male and pregnant as hell.
“You know, you’re taking this all really well without any questions,” Logan pointed out.
Emory shrugged. “There are different types of people in the world, but I know between fated mates, conception can happen even with same-sex couples.”
“Oh, so you know. Good, less to explain,” Logan said.
Emory laughed. “You look shocked that I know.”
“Most shifters stopped believing in true mates years ago, and it wasn’t common knowledge that same-sex pairings could have children,” Logan explained.
Emory nodded. “This is all true, but my parents are fated mates. I have two moms, and so I know for a fact that the same pairings can have children. Ask all eight of my siblings—they will agree.”
“Holy fuck, eight?” Logan gasped.
He was already considering being done, and he hadn’t pushed the babies out yet. But the thought of no coffee and being uncomfortable for months at a time just wasn’t appealing in the least. Emory chuckled, and Logan caught Clyde grinning like a fool at the man’s laughter.
“Yeah, my mama is from a big family, so she wanted the same, not to mention most rabbit shifters have multiples. At least six of my siblings are either twins or triplets. My youngest sibling is five. I think they are done, but who knows.”
Logan opened his mouth to reply, but his stomach tightened before the pain hit him and had him white-knuckling his hands. Fuck. He heard Emory vaguely telling him to breathe. Logan let out a pent-up breath. He knew what he should do, but it was like when the pain hit, he forgot everything.
It was finally over, and Logan sighed in relief.
“Your contractions are lasting longer and getting closer together. How much farther do we have to go?” Emory asked.
Logan hoped they were close.
“Another twenty minutes,” Clyde informed them.
Logan groaned. “Clyde, do you have your phone?”
He maneuvered around while keeping his eyes on the road before passing the phone back.
“Calling Indigo?” Clyde said.
Shit, he probably should, but with the labor moving faster than Logan hoped, he really should call Kelsey. So he quickly sent a text to Indigo.
Clyde: This is Logan on the way back home right now. Don’t worry.
He added a heart and kissy-face emoji. His mate was going to kill him. Logan called Kelsey.
“I’m on the way, what’s up?” she asked.
“How far away because it looks like these two aren’t willing to wait,” Logan said.
“Fuck.”
That was his thought exactly.
“Calm down, Indigo. I’m sure Logan is somewhere breathing in the scent of coffee,” Cole tried reassuring him.
But it didn’t put his mind at ease. He paced the living room, his panther just as unsettled. They had already lost a partner to childbirth. Indigo didn’t think he’d live if something happened to Logan.
“Daddy.” Gabriella’s voice pulled him from his darkening thoughts.
He stopped his useless pacing to pick up his daughter. He hugged her, and she looked so much like her late mother, Indigo’s heart broke slightly, and the fear that coursed through him doubled.
Where the fuck was his mate? When he found Logan, he was going to tie the man to the bed so he wouldn’t disappear ever again. Indigo put Gabriella down. His panther was close, and although he wasn’t concerned that his animal side would hurt his child, he still put her down. She looked at him with concern in her big blue eyes.
Kash was there grabbing her hand and pulling her over toward the play area where some of her toys sat with the others. A heavy hand landed on his shoulder and squeezed. Dominance washed over him from the alpha power pushing Indigo’s panther side down.
Indigo sighed in relief as he glanced over his shoulder at Dezi.
“Thanks.” Although it was short-lived as he still had no idea where Logan was.
Dezi smiled at him. “Everything is going to be okay.”
Indigo wanted to shout, but his shoulder
