Logan said.
Indigo smiled and took a step back.
“You know, I might be willing to share,” Logan added. He went to grab the basket full of goodies. “But only one cup.”
Logan caught sight of Indigo’s bright smile and nearly tripped. He might be willing to even share two cups if it got him that smile again.
Indigo leaned over and placed a kiss on Logan’s head. “How generous of you, Bean. I think I’ll take you up on that.”
Logan chastised himself internally for wishing that Indigo would have kissed him on the lips instead of the head.
“As long as you know this won’t be a regular occurrence. I don’t share coffee,” Logan muttered.
Although that had always been the case, he didn’t think he’d be able to keep it that way.
“Duly noted. I feel extra special now,” Indigo said with a laugh.
Logan rolled his eyes but couldn’t push away the smile that tugged at his lips. He could always ask the questions later, and the talk could happen at another time. Logan didn’t want to ruin the moment. His heart felt so light.
Stepping out of the shower, Indigo hadn’t expected to find Logan sitting on his bed, back turned away from the bathroom, a coffee cup clutched in his hand. Did the man go anywhere without coffee?
“Hey,” Indigo quietly called so as to not scare his mate away.
Logan was hot and cold with him. It was a roller-coaster ride Indigo was glad to be on, but he couldn’t wait until Logan finally accepted him and they could be mated. There were moments where they were in sync and everything was right, and then there were moments where Logan would run as soon as he saw Indigo. The only time Logan didn’t run was when they were in bed together.
Logan finally turned and looked at him. His eyes went wide, and a blush crept up his face and tinted his cheeks to a lovely red. His pink tongue poked out as he licked his lips. The memory of that all-consuming kiss was branded into Indigo’s brain. He wanted to repeat it, but he was waiting on Logan. It was torture. Indigo loosened his grip on his towel and let it slowly fall to the floor. Logan groaned. It was fucking music to Indigo’s ears.
“Did you come here for something?” Indigo asked in a sultry voice. He took slow steps toward the bed closer to where Logan sat.
His mate didn’t move an inch, watching Indigo with a hungry gaze until his legs touched the bed. Logan finally looked away. His gaze roamed around the room until they landed back on the mug in his hands. Logan was loud and strong-willed, but at times when it was just them, Logan became this soft blushing man that made Indigo want to do everything in his power to protect him.
“You, um.” Logan shook his head, and his shoulders tensed up.
Indigo wanted to pull him close and ease his discomfort. His panther practically demanded it, but Indigo stayed still, knowing that he had to wait for Logan. That they wouldn’t be able to fully move forward until Logan said so.
“I what?” Indigo asked.
Logan visibly shivered, but he didn’t turn to look at Indigo, no matter how Indigo craved his mate’s gaze to be on him again.
“This is stupid.” Logan abruptly stood, the coffee sloshing over the rim of the mug. “Fuck,” Logan shouted.
Indigo was moving to his mate before the thought could fully form in his head. He grabbed Logan’s hand and looked it over. The coffee wasn’t hot at all; it was closer to ice coffee. Relief flooded Indigo all at once. His mate was okay.
Their eyes met, and Indigo’s heart skipped a beat. He lifted his hand and cradled Logan’s face. It was only a moment, but the way Logan’s lashes lowered and he nuzzled against Indigo’s hand was enough to give Indigo more hope for their future. But just like any of their encounters, Logan pulled away, and it forced Indigo to take a step back. It hurt, the worst fucking pain in the world, but he did it anyway.
“Sorry I spilled coffee on your carpet,” Logan said.
Indigo glanced down at the brown spot on the floor. “It’s fine. I already talked to Dezi about taking the carpet out. Gabriella smashed some Play-Doh into it the other day.”
Logan nodded once again, averting his gaze from Indigo. “I better go and let you get dressed,” Logan said.
Damn it. Indigo didn’t want Logan to leave, ever, if it
