Indigo’s shoulders. He wanted Logan to know it was no excuse for pushing him away all those years ago, but he also needed to understand everything that had transpired that day.
Indigo opened his eyes and took in a sharp breath. The warm body pressed against him was a godsend. He pinched himself to make sure he wasn’t dreaming. The pain registered, and he was still staring down at Logan.
Logan groaned and moved closer to Indigo as if it were possible every inch of their bodies wasn’t already touching. He mumbled in his sleep but didn’t wake up. Indigo wasn’t willing to wake his mate either. The door that led to Gabriella’s room cracked open, and Gabriella’s frizzy curls popped through. Her eyes lit up when she caught sight of Indigo and then Logan. She ran into the room and climbed into the bed, plopping herself right on top of Logan.
Indigo winced. “Gabriella,” he chided.
Logan was awake now, his head up and his dirty-blond hair all over the place.
“Morning, Daddy, morning, Loggy,” she said in the sweetest voice ever.
Indigo kissed her temple. “Morning, princess, but you can’t just jump in the middle of the bed like that.”
“Sorry,” she said, looking down at her hands.
Logan sat all the way up. His eyes went from Gabriella and then to Indigo as if he were slow on everything that had transpired. He looked around the room, and Indigo held his breath as Logan came to realize that they had spent the entire night together. Logan’s eyes finally landed on Indigo and Gabriella again. He scooped Gabriella up and started tickling her. She was giggling, and it was such a surreal sight. Indigo felt light with happiness as he watched his daughter and mate.
Logan finally stopped tickling her, and he moved back up the bed and looked at Indigo. He looked so shy, and Indigo wanted to wrap the man in his arms that very second. Logan leaned over and pressed a kiss to Indigo’s lips. It was too short. Before Logan could pull all the way back, Indigo grabbed his head and brought their lips back together, deepening the kiss and loving every second. He only stopped because Gabriella giggled at them. Logan pulled back and looked at Gabriella.
“My turn,” she declared happily.
Logan and Indigo reached for her, and they kissed her on the cheeks. She was a giggling mess. They finally made their way out of bed.
“Brush your teeth, young lady, before you go out there,” Indigo called out, seeing Gabriella open the door to the hallway that led to the rest of the Pride house.
He finished brushing his teeth and stared at his daughter. Gabriella closed the door and went back to her room that had a jack-and-jill bathroom that led to an empty bedroom. Indigo’s eyes went to Logan, who had a spare toothbrush in his hand. If they had kids, then they could decorate the room.
Logan stopped brushing his teeth, and Indigo realized he’d been staring at his mate intently.
“It’s too early in the morning for whatever is going on in that head of yours,” Logan muttered.
Indigo moved behind his mate, and he waited for Logan to pull back or push him away. But he didn’t—the man surprised him even further and leaned back against him as he continued to brush his teeth.
“What does this mean for us?” Indigo asked.
He wanted to make sure they agreed. Indigo also couldn’t squash the fear that bubbled inside of him. Everything was on the table, and if Logan rejected him, which was his right, Indigo would have to take Gabriella and leave. He refused to put Logan through torture, and he doubted he’d be able to handle it himself.
Logan rinsed his mouth and put the toothbrush in the holder alongside Indigo. He sighed, leaning back in Indigo’s arms.
“You couldn’t wait to ask this after I had coffee?” Logan asked.
Indigo laughed, and he couldn’t help it. “Sorry?”
Logan rolled his eyes. “For future reference, coffee first before we have any discussions.”
So, there is a future. Hope blossomed in Indigo’s chest.
“Got it,” Indigo said.
Logan glared at him through their reflection in the mirror. “I was stubbornly refusing to listen to you before, and I’m sorry for that.”
Indigo kissed Logan’s head. He wanted to tell him there was nothing to be sorry for, but he didn’t want to interrupt his mate either.
“You’ve been more than patient with me, and I know I’m not the easiest person to deal with, but if you still want to, you know,
