an endearing sight to see.
The appreciation and adoration they had for their fan base was blatantly obvious to any outsider looking in. I felt honored they permitted me to be there with them. It was a very personal experience. They signed anywhere from one to five items a fan would hand them, took pictures and videos for people’s social media, and handed out free merch and swag. I’d never seen anything like it before.
When it came time to hit the forum, I walked with Dave to the side stage, watching them on the big screen with fifty thousand people in attendance. Their camera crew filmed their entire entrance. The minute they stepped out of their trailers, they were being recorded so the audience could feel like they were part of the process.
Each detail of their performance catered to the crowd.
I sang.
I danced.
I almost shit myself...
When I heard Cash say my name into the microphone, “You guys wanna meet my Junie?”
The arena lost theirs as well. Hooting and hollering, whistling up a storm.
Cash spun around, staring right at me as I fervently shook my head.
“Oh, come on, Junie. They wanna meet you.”
“Junie! Junie! Junie!” his bandmates chanted, instructing the crowd to do the same.
Cash grinned, feeling all proud of himself.
“Darlin’, either you come out here, or I’m gonna come get you.”
My eyes widened, panicking.
He wouldn’t.
He did.
I was frozen to the spot I was standing. I couldn’t get my feet to move. It was as if my legs decided to stop working. Cash didn’t miss a beat. Leaning forward, he threw me over his shoulder and carried me out onto the stage.
The crowd went fucking wild.
Once again, I’d never seen anything like it before.
“Meet my June,” he professed, loud and clear for all to hear.
My mind was blank.
My heart was racing.
It all happened so fast.
I blinked and was suddenly standing in front of fifty thousand people, screaming my name.
“Junie! Junie! Junie!”
Cash whispered in my ear, “I promised you I’d show you my world.”
I didn’t speak, I couldn’t get my lips to move.
“And now, everyone is gonna know what you mean to me too.”
Grabbing me from the nook of my neck, he tugged me toward him. Laying a big, plump kiss on my lips.
This kiss wasn’t for me.
It was for them.
Cash was laying his claim.
On me.
For everyone to see.
Exactly how he promised me.
This could only be described as the peak...
Of our love story.
Dear Diary,
Once upon a time...
There was a little girl who had a crush on the boy from down the street. His hair was long, and his eyes were as hazel as the sun was bright. Singing music to her heart was what started their friendship.
She danced and danced and danced some more.
He never once told her to stop.
He never once called her a child.
He never once made her feel like he wasn’t hers to follow.
Together they were unstoppable. From here to Kingdom Come, she’d follow him to the depths of the sea just to be with him. The longer they were together, the more she got to see the glimmer in his gaze.
Day by day, his once dilated, hazy, glossy eyes turned into the most stunning sight.
White.
Serene.
Crystal clear.
The boy she remembered. The one she came for turned into the guy of her dreams.
Because her Prince Charming was finally sober, and oh what a perfect life they lived.
I’d been with Cash for the last month, and it was the fairy tale he promised.
I’d wake up, I was with Cash. I’d eat breakfast, I was with Cash.
Lunch.
Dinner.
I was with Cash.
Rehearsal.
Meet and greets.
Sound checks.
I was with Cash.
Anywhere.
Everywhere.
I was with Cash.
We slept under the stars in the Vegas desert after one of his shows, where he pointed out the brightest star he had legally named after me. The certificate was now in my backpack, going everywhere with me.
He took me on a hot air balloon ride over Niagara Falls when we were there for another show.
He taught me how to drive a stick in a ‘67 Chevelle.
I wasn’t stupid. I knew he’d found my bucket list, and the fact that he was determined to make it all happen only made me love him that much more.
I used my camera, filming and taking as much footage as I could. I wanted our love story to be a memory we could look back on decades from now.
Seeing the world through a tour bus was something I never thought I’d experience. There were no words to describe the beauty of the earth until you drove through it. One
