place because it’d been Kenny’s dream to own a bar like this and she made it happen. I wanted this event to be somewhere I knew she’d find special in her heart.
“VP, you seriously have outdone yourself with this,” Tanner chuckles as he tunes his bass. We’d decided he and the rest of the members were to become part of the club and none of us regret the decision. They’ve been family to us for years now and it only felt right.
“I’ve busted my ass to keep this a secret from Kenny. She still doesn’t know about it yet,” I snort.
“How you pulled it off is beyond me but I’m happy for you,” Chaz says. “You know what songs you want or you want us winging it?”
Grinning I pull out the list of songs I knew I wanted them to play. I hand it to Chaz who takes it. “I hope you were able to convince your ol’ lady to do those two songs on that list with you guys.”
“She’ll sing with us tonight for this,” Chaz declares with a smirk. His ol’ lady, Bethany, is extremely shy in singing in front of crowds. She puts music out along with them but never does music videos or gigs with them unless Chaz somehow twists her arm into it.
“Awesome, I need to check on everything else. You good with this list?” I ask.
“Only for you, brother, would I go with few of these,” he states and hands the list over to Hunter who then passes it to Lex. The two of them groaning but grin in the end.
Shaking my head, I go check on Avery who’s setting up the tables with the food trays. “You good over here?” I ask, spooking her in the process.
“Um, yeah, everything’s ready food wise, I just need to finish bringing everything in,” she says, casting her eyes to the room with a worried expression on her face.
“You good?” I ask as I follow her gaze to see her staring at Red.
She straightens and nods her head. “I’m good, I’ll just get the food in and head out.”
“You’re not staying for the event?”
“No, I can’t. I have to get back to the café. With it being Valentine’s Day there’s a lot of orders being made and I don’t have enough hands,” she mutters but I sense she’s lying about something.
I nod in understanding though and don’t push her. “Alright, thanks for this.”
“You’re welcome,” Avery murmurs and goes back to what she’s doing.
The door opens and my pops walks in the space with Rachel, their kids, and mine.
“Daddy,” Kayla says excitedly while running to me.
“Hey, princess.” I grin and wrap my arms around her. “What do you think of this place?” I ask wanting her input now that I can tell her and my boys about it.
“Momma is gonna love it,” she giggles.
“She’s gonna freak,” JC says, grinning.
“Why we doing this for Mommy?” Caden asks in confusion. “Is it her birthday?”
“No, bud, I’m surprising your mommy with something special because she deserves it,” I explain.
“Does that mean I get a big party too?”
Laughter fills the room at Caden’s question. “Kiddo, you get a big birthday party every year,” Izzy informs my son as she comes in and swoops him into her arms. I take in what she’s wearing and grin. Her dress is opposite of my ol’ lady’s being red with the black across the tits.
“You able to get them ready real quick, baby?” Twister asks, holding their youngest in his arms while putting his phone back in his pocket. “That was Striker. He’s on the way back with Kenny in tow,” he announces.
“I’ll go get them ready.” Izzy nods and takes them to the office where I knew my kids’ stuff waited.
I needed to get ready as well but I wanted to make sure everything was set up first.
“VP, go get ready,” Twister says. “As your best man, I’ve got this under control. By the way, when she gets here, you should give her this,” he mutters and hands me a jewelry box.
I open and find a white gold necklace with her birthstone encrusted with the kids stones as well as mine. I knew with our stones surrounding hers what it meant. She was the center of our world. This statement couldn’t be further from the truth.
Kenny isn’t just the center of our world, she’s the backbone and the one person in the world who is the glue that keeps us together. Without her, we wouldn’t
