as, Horse.
This is how our day goes.
Getting up, one of us goes to start breakfast, this usually being me, while the other goes and gets ready for work. Of course, this being Horse. After breakfast is ready, I get JC, Kayla, and Caden up and to the table. Horse joins them during this time. As they all eat, I prepare their lunches, simply because school lunches suck. When they’re done eating, I help them get ready for school and Horse heads out the door.
Once ready, I take my three to school. This is Caden’s first year going to school and he’s the smartest kid in his class. All three of my kids are smart, but sometimes when it comes to schoolwork JC slacks off. I know it’s because he’s bored. This year he’s signing up for football and I hope this helps. Kayla is my studious one, saying she wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up. After all of this I head home to let out the three dogs to run off some energy and make sure the cats have water.
Only when I have this all done do I get a moment to breathe and when I say breathe, I mean shower and get to Outlaw Racks to get some work done.
My life is nothing like it used to be.
I don’t even remember the last time Horse and I had sex where it was more than a quickie. I honestly think sometimes he’s pulling away from me. Especially lately. Like this morning he didn’t even bother kissing me good morning or before he left for work.
With Valentine’s Day coming up, the waitresses have asked me to do a theme night where the women can wear short red dresses rather than their usual uniform. For them I agreed but I’m down in the dumps about the day meant for love and all the fun stuff that’s supposed to go with it.
For instance, sex.
Not just quickies in between doing something. I want to be able to connect with my Scott again rather than getting it from Horse. My husband and ol’ man are the same but there’s a major difference in him when he’s focused on club life and home life. Yeah, they maybe one and the same to most but when you live in our world. It’s not.
At home he normally tries to be relaxed, have family meals, and do things together like watch movies or even take the kids out. When he’s out of the house he’s Horse, a man you don’t mess with. He’s the VP of the Devil’s Riot MC and my soulmate at the same time.
Or at least he used to be.
Now I don’t know.
I wish I did though, maybe then I’d know how to fix my marriage.
Chapter Two
Horse
“Yo, Horse, you comin’ to the party tonight?” Wolf asks, gaining my attention from the carburetor I’m cleaning.
I lift my head to see my brother leaning against a pillar. He’s been back for about two years now after getting out of the military. Several of our brothers decided to come home at the same time. Wolf, K-9, Sabor, and Mace are some of them. Some of them went to the national charter while the four of them came here. Red, Striker, and Brass also just came back from their last tour and decided to get out for good, having had enough with this last deployment.
Since being back Red hasn’t been the same fun-loving dude he used to be. Neither has Brass or Striker, but war does that to a man. I might not have enlisted but I’m there for my brothers who did. I try to make sure they get the help they need when they need it.
“Naw, I gotta get home. Something’s up with Kenny and I gotta figure out what it is,” I mutter with a shake of my head.
Over the last few months, I’ve noticed a change in my woman. One that I’m not sure is a good thing or not. I know I’ve been busy lately but there’s a reason for it. We’ve got shit going down with the club but I’ve also got something special I’ve been working on for her. So, you could say I’ve been distracted and not giving her the attention she deserves.
Between all the shit we’ve been dealt it’s not been easy and I nearly lost her when she had Caden. I freaked thinking my little boy wasn’t gonna make it. Same with my woman. A man makes
