nowhere.
Kim knocks on the boardroom door and I signal with my fingers for her to come in.
Luke Broderick, one of the board members who is speaking, continues to speak while Kim walks in, swinging her hips in that tight yellow dress. I notice from the corner of my eyes how male gazes are drawn towards her as she walks past their chairs.
I am staring right at her, and she holds my gaze firmly. She has a file in her hand, but I have no idea what this is about. I haven’t asked for any file from her.
“Mr. Silvers, this is the information you were urgently looking for,” she says when she’s standing next to my chair. Just loud enough for everyone to hear but not actually pay attention.
There’s a look on her face—defiance mixed with the hint of pleasure. I take the file from her and suspiciously flip the front page open.
The file is practically empty. There is only one piece of paper in it, and it’s a small handwritten note.
What you did to me last night—unfair.
I look up at Kim, and she’s biting down on her bottom lip, gently, so that nobody else will notice. But I do. I also notice the way the color has risen in her cheeks. She suddenly looks very flushed and hot. The way she would look if I was kissing her, trailing my tongue down her neck.
Damn. I’m in the middle of an important meeting, and she’s managed to give me a hard-on!
I scribble quickly on the note and hand the file back to her.
The dress you’re wearing right now—unfair.
She reads it, and there’s a smile forming on her face. I love the way she smiles. How it takes over her whole face and eyes. She hugs the file close to her body and turns to walk away.
I watch her go. Her ass looks deliciously big and rounded in this dress, and I feel like she’s walking that sexily on purpose. Just to tease me.
“Do you have anything to add?” Luke’s booming voice interrupts my thoughts, and I turn to the rest of the table. They are all staring at me, waiting for my input, and I have nothing to give them.
Kim is the only thing that occupies my mind, and it looks like that is going to become a problem.
Time for payback.
I wait until she excuses herself over the intercom to go for lunch. By now, I know she eats in the office cafeteria with her group of work friends.
I give her ten minutes to settle in before I leave my office and take the elevator down to the cafeteria. This is the second time in the last month that I’ve been here!
I walk in and notice the group of women in the corner of the room. None of them have seen me walk in yet; they are all too engrossed in their chatter.
Kim is in the center of it, talking to two others while also eating a sandwich.
I walk right up to them, and finally, a few of them notice. I’m sure they all remember the day I heard first-hand accounts of what these women really think of me.
“I’m sorry to interrupt your lunch again, ladies. I’m just wondering if you have a minute to spare, Kim.”
I focus on her while I sense everyone else staring at me. Kim doesn’t look as afraid this time. Instead, she stands up slowly, puts her sandwich away, and then walks around to me.
“Of course, Mr. Silvers, we can talk.”
These women are paying attention. I’m pretty sure they’ll be able to see through us. They’ll detect something is up, but I don’t really care.
Kim is standing in front of me. We are standing very close together. Close enough that I could lean in for a kiss. But that would be pushing it too far.
“How can I help you, Mr. Silvers?” she asks.
“I’m not sure what to get for a very special woman. A gift. I thought maybe you would be able to help me out.”
Kim’s eyes brighten. Nobody in her group has moved or said a word.
“I would love to help you find a gift for her, this special woman in your life. Do you know what she likes?”
She is teasing me. She is trying to turn this game around on me. She thinks I don’t know enough about her to be able to answer her question.
“I know exactly what she likes,” I reply. “Do you want me to go into detail?” My voice has
