hands around his mouth. “Attention inmates of Darkmore Penitentiary-”
I elbowed him in the gut so hard that he coughed out a breath.
“Fine,” I snapped at him, furious as I moved in front of the screen and placed my palm on it. Sin rested his chin on my shoulder as he gazed down at it to read my private fucking information.

I would have been out of here by now and the reminder of that made my gut sink like a stone.
“Kidnapping, hmmm?” Sin murmured in my ear. “You dirty dog.”
I jerked my shoulder up to try and dislodge his head, but he pressed his chin down harder to stay there. I didn’t tell people the reason I was in here, it was my fucking business and I despised Sin peeking into my life. My baby sister had tried to solve our money issues on her own, and that had been one helluva mistake which had landed my ass in here. I’d been furious until the moment she’d told me she was pregnant and then what was a guy to do?
“I kidnapped a hobo once,” he mused. “Terrible idea. No one realised he was missing. Eventually, I gave him a pair of my shoes and put him back where I found him.”
“By the stars,” I muttered. “Why the fuck would you do that?”
“He didn’t have any shoes.”
“I mean why would you kidnap him in the first place?” I growled, shaking my head at him and he paused.
“I was a dumb kid and only had three auras to last me a week for food,” he said thoughtfully.
“And you thought kidnapping a hobo for ransom was the answer?” I said irritably.
“Not my finest moment. We still talk sometimes though. Alf runs a shoe shop now out in Iperia, real nice guy, bit ironic that he started up the shoe shop after-”
“You gave him some shoes, I get it. But I don’t give a shit about Alf and his shoe shop.”
“You should, I get a fifty percent discount there and he casts spells on the soles that make them the comfiest damn feet keepers I’ve ever worn.”
Feet keepers??
My horoscope was on the screen and I refused to go down this rabbit hole of a conversation so I read it before it disappeared.
Hello Cancer inmate.
The stars have spoken about your fortune.
You’re feeling unbalanced of late, as though the scales of fate are tipping against you. And with a Sagittarius stepping on your toes, you may feel suffocated. However, you could find that following this uncomfortable path leads you right to where you want to be. As Mars moves into your chart, you might find it harder to quell your anger in the face of your struggles, but take heart, the road of resistance can sometimes end at an oasis.
“I’m a Sagittarius,” Sin spoke in my ear again, his breath hot on my skin. “It’s definitely talking about me. My Horoscope mentioned you too, kitten.” He grabbed my hand and I yanked it free as he tried to guide me away.
“What the hell are you doing?” I hissed, glancing at the queue of people waiting to come up who were now muttering among one another.
“Just play along, sugar,” he encouraged. “We have another little task to do for our favourite she-Wolf.”
My eyes widened and I growled. “No,” I refused, remembering the Nepula Weed I’d had to sneak out of the Order Yard up my fucking ass. “If she needs something done, she can do it her damn self.”
I headed off down the stairs and heard Sin’s heavy footfalls following close behind me. I managed to evade him for a while, doing a couple of readings on the Tarot cards and getting the same sort of message as my Horoscope. It looked like I was going to be walking down a rocky road for a while. But there had to be a way to change that.
I headed over to the dice to get some more specific guidance, but before I made it there, Sin appeared again, wrapping his arm around my shoulders and directing me toward the crystal section at the back of the room.
“Pull away and I’ll shout your secret at the top of my lungs,” he whispered to me and I stiffened in fury but didn’t fight him. I just couldn’t fucking risk it.
The crystals were kept in giant form here, embedded along the back wall to keep them
