on would be clearer.
A huge net of vines was suddenly launched over my head and I threw myself aside to avoid getting tangled in it, but instead found myself colliding with Pudding as he lumbered towards the door.
I slammed into him and his eyes met mine just as the net fell over us and the magic was yanked tight.
"Fuck!' I yelled as I was crushed against the enormous Bear Shifter and the guard in control of the magic dragged us across the room before securing the net to the ceiling and hanging us up in a line alongside a bunch of other captured rioters.
I cursed the fact that I didn't have access to my magic as I fought to find a weak spot in the net while simultaneously being crushed beneath Pudding's ass.
"Pull harder, hound," he said in that totally chilled out, unaffected tone of his as the vines which made up the net cut into my fingers while I tugged as hard as I damn well could.
Pudding sighed like I was being dramatic or something and then rolled over, smooshing my face to the net and crushing me as I cursed him. But then he lifted his huge hands to the vines, grabbed hold of them and tugged them apart like they were made of nothing at all.
I didn't get a moment to be impressed though because the second I saw him do it, the whole net fell apart and the two of us fell straight out of it and down onto the hard floor beneath us.
By some miracle, I managed to roll aside before an enormous Bear could fall on top of me and I found myself beneath one of the tables as another guard threw a torrent of water our way.
I cursed and rolled further beneath the table, getting to my feet on the other side of it and spotting Pudding just as he strolled out the door like this was any other day.
A hand closed around my wrist and I whirled around with a snarl bursting from my lips, finding myself face to face with none other than my least favourite CO.
Cain smirked triumphantly and hoisted me over his shoulder before shooting from the room and down the stairs, the world blurring around me until we found ourselves outside my cell block where he dropped me on my feet.
"Let's see how long this goes on for without the ring leaders in play," he taunted, giving me a shove towards the doors where Officer Rind was shouting at all of the inmates to return to their cells or sleeping places in the coop for lockdown.
"Thank you, boss man," I said sweetly as I looked up at Cain. "For saving me the walk down the stairs."
He growled at me and gave me another shove towards the cell block before shooting away to help out with the rest of the rioters.
"Get your ass inside, Twelve!" Officer Rind boomed, but he was all alone and clearly had orders to man the door.
I glanced between him and the corridor to my right and then grinned widely as I darted away. His angry yells chased me down the corridor but there were hundreds of inmates running this way already, looking to get back to their cells for lockdown before the guards upped the game in an effort to regain control of us.
I tore down the corridor past the other cell blocks, ignoring the yells of the guards when they caught my ear and using the flood of inmates to hide my passage as much as I could manage.
When I reached the central staircase, I headed straight down, whooping with excitement as I bounded down step after step until I made it to level five where the gymnasium was housed. There weren't any other Fae down here right now, most of them racing back to their cell blocks or living their best lives causing havoc up in the Mess Hall and the silence surrounding me was almost eerie.
As I rounded the corner and prepared to leap down the next flight of steps, a prickle of warning ran down my spine and I whipped around half a second before a force of air magic slammed into me and lifted me clean off of my feet.
I was hurled into the gym, rolling across the tiled floor between the silent machinery before coming to a halt in front of a pair of boots.
I pushed onto my hands and knees, looking up to find Officer Nixon smirking
