his work and has his own strange...methods that most people here aren't that comfortable with. So me and Roary agreed to keep an eye on him, and some of the others too. We don't let him work on his own, and when you got here I was busy arguing with him about him working while he's naked so I didn't hear you right away." She shrugged innocently and I could see that technically everything she'd said had probably been true.
I nodded to back up her story. "We basically take it in turns to make sure he's at least using the tools and not his dick to paint the walls."
Cain's nose wrinkled a little and he finally nodded. "Well if he's not suited to this work-"
"He's surprisingly good when he's kept in check," Rosa said quickly, giving him a sideways smile. "I think we'll have the job finished by the end of the week so long as he’s pulling his weight."
My pulse pounded in my ears as I nodded my agreement. By the end of this week, we'd be finished the job alright. And hopefully lying on a beach somewhere with smug ass grins on our faces while the world talked about the convicts who'd managed to do the impossible. I was pretty excited to put my name on the map again. What would Father think if I managed that?
"Fine, but if this goes on longer than a week, you're done. I'll have you reassigned and a new team brought in here," Cain said firmly and we nodded.
He shot off back to the others and I heard him shouting at Plunger about wearing clothes while Rosa threw herself at me, hugging me tight. The sweet scent of her smelled better than freedom ever could and I held her close as the door banged and Cain left.
"Just a few more days, Rosa," I purred in her ear and she shivered in my arms. I didn't know if it was because of me or because of what I'd said, but the asshole in me hoped it was the former.
"I'm ready, Roar," she said excitedly, pulling back and looking up at me with the whole world staring back at me in her eyes. "It's almost time to follow through on that promise I made you."
E verything was coming together and I was beginning to feel like there was a live wire constantly sparking beneath my skin. I was this vibrant ball of energy, aching for an outlet and ready to explode.
We returned to the others and once I was certain Cain was long gone, I beckoned everybody close, hopped up onto one of the tables and sat there with my legs crossed beneath me.
"Listen up!" I called, my gaze sliding over each and every member of this unconventional team as I looked for any signs of weak links. "Plunger has the tunnel closing in on the surface and we need to be ready to move as soon as it's done. The plan is simple. In two days, a riot will break out again at dinner time and I'll head off to dose the Order Suppressant tank down on the maintenance level with the ingredients needed to switch the gas coming from the vents in the main prison into an antidote. So everyone up here just needs to get a few deep breaths of air from the vents and you'll be able to shift to your heart’s content. That should be more than enough to cause carnage to cover our escape. Assuming they stick to what they did last time, we will have one hour from the riot breaking out until the Belorian is set loose."
"The poor beastie will be looking forward to getting another free run," Sin interrupted, winking at me and I paused, narrowing my eyes on him.
"To be clear, we absolutely don't want the Belorian to be set loose for as long as possible."
"Heard you loud and clear, wild girl," Sin said, tossing me another wink and I growled, pushing to my feet and stalking towards him as everyone else watched with varying levels of confusion.
"Sin Wilder," I said in a low, warning voice, moving up close to him and pressing a finger to his chest. "Repeat after me: we do not want the Belorian set free."
"We do not want the Belorian set free," he purred, grabbing my wrist and lifting my finger to his mouth before nipping it playfully. "Got it." He winked again and I bristled.
"If you set that monster
