side of Lukas’s face until he reached his panting mouth, circling his lips and smiling when Lukas chased the toy with his tongue.
“You have to choose now.” He leaned down and slipped his tongue into Lukas’s mouth for a quick kiss. “Don’t choose what you think I want—choose what you’re comfortable with. And if you change your mind later—about anything we’re doing—I’ll stop.”
Lukas lifted his head enough to lick at John’s bottom lip, smiling at the indrawn breath it caused. “I know you will. But I want the first one, John. With things changing tomorrow—”
John grunted, his brow wrinkling. “Things won’t change.”
“Don’t be obstinate.” He smiled sweetly, and John sighed, his gaze darting away for a second before coming back and pinning Lukas in place once more. “We won’t be sleeping next to each other every night and spending all day together anymore, so tonight, I want to still feel like I’m yours. Completely.” He turned his head and pressed his forehead into the table, arching his back and spreading his legs as far as he could with his pants still around his knees. “Please, John.”
“So fucking perfect.”
Chapter Eleven
Dinner was a never-ending affair for John.
He sat across from Lukas and Lydia with Dave on his right, and he could barely focus on anything being said. Every time Lukas wiggled or reached for something, his face would flush pink, or he’d bite his lip, or his eyes would flutter shut for a moment.
It was the most intoxicating thing John had ever seen in his life.
Dave’s hand landed on his shoulder, jolting him out of his fantasy of bending Lukas over the picnic table, lowering his jeans, and spreading his cheeks to reveal the end of the plug before pulling it out and shoving his cock in. He glanced at Dave and cleared his throat. “What was that?”
Dave’s brows furrowed. “I said, Garrett Singer emailed me. He said you’re giving him the runaround about helping with his next project.”
John rolled his eyes and turned back to his plate, arousal effectively dimmed. Singer was the developer who’d been pestering him all week with bullshit offers. Kept trying to tell John that after the first project—if things worked out well—he was sure they’d be working together more, and John could name his rate.
“I’m not giving him anything. He thinks because he’s friends with you and because I don’t have a lot of experience working on projects this large, that he can pay me flat rate—a rate that’s a joke, by the way—and that I should just accept it with a smile.”
He happened to glance up and caught Lukas’s frown. They’d talked a couple of times about the situation with Singer, and he knew Lukas supported his decision to decline unless Singer was willing to pay him what he was worth. Why Lukas’s support meant so much to him, he’d have to sort out later.
“That’s just how Singer, and guys like him, operate,” Dave said, waving his fork in the air. “Once he sees how good you are, he’ll be falling all over himself to work with you again and will pay you whatever you want.”
Grinding his teeth together, John shrugged but chose not to answer. Dave saw things from a contractor’s perspective—the guy in charge of the entire project—and not from someone like John, who just needed to go in and do his job and get paid. He didn’t care if “the next time” Singer paid twice his normal rate; he wasn’t working for half of it the first time to prove himself. That was bullshit.
Lydia glanced between him and her husband, then turned to Lukas. “Any interesting pets come into the office recently, sweetie?”
Groaning, Dave laid his fork down across his mostly empty plate. “Lydia, you know I don’t like him talking about that stuff while we eat.” He glanced at Lukas’s red face. “No offense, son. I just don’t want to hear about sick or dying pets when I’m trying to enjoy a meal.”
Lukas pressed his lips together and nodded, but his gaze never lifted from his plate. Anger lit John’s veins on fire, and he squeezed his hand around his fork and took a deep breath to try and calm himself down. This was what Lukas had meant that first time they’d had dinner together. How had John never noticed before how shitty Dave talked to Lukas about his job? Something Lukas loved and was passionate about was too gross for Dave to even hear while he was eating?
Ignoring Dave, John
