okay?”
Feeling a little embarrassed, John turned away from Lukas’s worried eyes. “Yeah, I’m fine. Just need a hot shower and some ibuprofen.”
“Okay,” Lukas said, voice soft. “I’ll see you in the morning?”
John stopped about halfway to the bathroom. What was he doing? He’d been lying on the floor stretching out his back when Lukas had arrived and hadn’t been bothered by Lukas seeing him, but now that they’d kissed, he was going to go all macho man, too embarrassed to have a weakness seen by the man he had feelings for?
Fuck that.
“Lukas, wait.” He turned slowly, more careful of his back. “Sorry for being weird. Guess the reminder of how much older I am than you was a bit much for my poor ego to take.”
Lukas rolled his eyes. “You aren’t old. You just work a tough job that puts your body through a lot and probably don’t take proper care of it. I mean, I know you don’t eat well enough already.”
He had a point. “True. How would you feel about sleeping in here tonight? No funny business, just a quieter place to sleep.”
The corner of Lukas’s mouth quirked up as he walked over to John, setting his covered plate back on the table on his way. He didn’t stop until he was pressed up against John’s front, wrapping his arms around his waist. John could tell he was being careful to not push into John’s body or squeeze his arms too tight.
“What if I want some funny business during our sleepover?” he asked, then raised up on his toes and pressed a quick kiss to John’s smiling mouth.
Laughing, he lightly swatted Lukas’s plump butt. “Behave, brat.”
Lukas’s eyes widened in surprise, his pupils dilating as he bit his lip. “You’re making it hard to.”
Snorting, he cupped Lukas’s face and ran his thumb over his swollen bottom lip. “Eat your dinner. I won’t take long.”
Lukas pressed a kiss to John’s thumb—sending a jolt of electricity through him—then stepped back. “Take your time. I’m not going anywhere.”
John couldn’t hold back his grin as he turned away. If he had anything to say about it, Lukas wouldn’t be going anywhere for quite a while.
Chapter Eight
Lukas jolted into action as soon as the bathroom door closed behind John. He darted to the cabin door and hurried outside, jogging down to his own cabin. When he opened the door, Greg was still awake, sitting up in bed.
“Oh hey, I wondered where you were.” Greg grinned at him, then went back to his phone.
“Don’t take this the wrong way, Greg, but I’m going to go crash with a friend.” Lukas grabbed his toiletry bag and suitcase. Unlike Greg, whose dirty clothes and bathroom stuff were scattered around the cabin, Lukas kept his things contained so he literally could just grab them and go.
“What? Why?” Greg leaned forward as Lukas slipped back by his bed.
“Maybe look into a CPAP machine, buddy, cuz that snoring can’t be normal.” He smiled over his shoulder. “Night!”
He knew he was being presumptuous bringing his bags to John’s cabin, but something told him to take the leap. A part of him had been worried how John would act after their kiss, but—other than the weird moment with his back—he’d been surprisingly calm about the whole thing.
Lukas had always thought if he somehow managed to attract John into joining his team, he’d have to talk him through things the first few times until he was comfortable.
God, he’d never been happier to be wrong.
The way John had taken control of that kiss, of Lukas, had made Lukas weak in the knees. He wanted more of that and then some. Shivering, he glanced around once to make sure no one was around, then pushed open John’s door again and slipped inside.
He wondered if John would ever let Lukas rim him.
Biting his lip, he dropped his bags next to the bed and took a few deep breaths. He looked down at his half-hard dick. “Didn’t you hear him? We have to behave.”
Good lord, he was talking to his penis.
Shaking his head, he sent a silent thank-you to the universe that John hadn’t seen him doing that and hurried to get his food heated up in the microwave in the kitchenette.
By the time John got out of the bathroom, Lukas was halfway through his plate and beginning to second-guess bringing his stuff over. John was totally going to think he was being pushy. He wouldn’t be the first guy to say that when Lukas moved too
