the name given to the group of us—guys and girls—who are living in the quads but seem to find ourselves over at the Alpha Z house quite often.
DJ gets a text from Alex that the girls are all outside the door, and we head down to let them in.
DJ kisses Alex hello, and then leads the way down to the basement.
We tip our heads toward them as they come in.
“After you guys,” Maya says, with a smirk.
I return her gaze. “No. After you all. We’re gentlemen. We insist.”
Tonight, the Quad Squad features Maya, April, Alex, Charlotte, and Faith. Are they an incredibly attractive group of ladies? Yes.
Do we try to hook-up with them?
Well, yes and no.
DJ has already wifed-up Alex. Much to the dismay of every guy on the campus.
And girls, for that matter.
Maya is, well, we know Maya’s and my situation.
Then there's Charlotte, who's a "townie,” from Galesburg.
April's got a boyfriend back home, and though Finn has tried to crack that nut, it seems like she's not budging on her stance that Matt's the one for her. I met Matt once on a visit, and he did not get the Grant Stamp of approval. He seemed shady, in fact. I’ve tried to tell April as much, but she’s just one of those loyal-as-fuck girls. A ride or die woman, if you will. As much as I worry for her giving her heart to a man who might not take care of it, I respect the hell out of her loyalty.
Then there's Faith. Ah, yes, Faith. She's the southern belle who ended up here from Mississippi her sophomore year. Her parents are preachers, and apparently, she's a “good girl”, even according to Maya who is a master at finding out every one of her girlfriend's sexual dirt. Faith is dating a preacher's son from back home, but she just gives me the feeling that she's got the wildest mind of them all. She's just got that look in her eye.
I head behind the bar in the basement to hook-up my phone to the speakers so I can play some music and get some beers for everyone.
Since we’re all under twenty-one, sophomore year is the year of the basement party. While the seniors and juniors are pretty much all out at the bars on a Saturday night, we’re holding it down here.
Honestly, I don’t mind.
As I’m standing behind the bar, Maya strolls toward me.
She’s got on a pair of black jeans and some sexy combat boots to go with a lacy black camisole top that is as low cut as they get.
She sits on the barstool directly in front of me, and I can feel her eyes on me.
“Hiya, bartender,” she says.
“My best client. What’ll it be?”
She leans in and whispers so no one else can hear. “I’ll take one surprise orgasm tonight, please.”
I notice the guys looking at me from across the room. I toss them a few beers to start their beer pong game, keeping a stone face despite Maya’s comments.
“Mr. Taylor, you are impossible to fluster…has anyone told you that?” she bites her lower lip and leans on the bar, daring me to view her perfectly pert tits. She doesn’t have a bra on.
I lean in. “What happened to skirts?”
She grins, defiant. “It’s chilly tonight. I might enjoy pain, but not that kind of pain. I’m not trying to catch a cold.”
I grin slyly, locking my eyes on her until she turns her head. Faith and Charlotte land at the bar on the barstools on either side of Maya. They’re also looking gorgeous tonight.
Shame for the rest of the guys that these girls have boyfriends. It’s like the coolest, prettiest girls at the school are all taken. I suppose that tends to happen at a small school.
“Guys, isn’t coming here the best?” Maya exclaims.
“Absolutely,” Charlotte nods. “We went over to the Lambda house, but after I turned one of them down, they stopped giving us free beer! I felt like a freaking prostitute. Remind me why we ever went there.”
Maya grins broadly. “There’s something comforting about having a group of great friends like you’re from some stereotypical sitcom. And knowing that none of them are trying to fuck us. You just like us because we’re good people.”
I swallow, grinning internally.
Maya loves this.
So do I.
I comment. “What can I say? Well, except for DJ. I’m pretty sure he might be trying to get on Alex tonight.”
We look over at them, and see Alex make a shot in the beer
