“Considering your size and general appearance, I don’t see too many people questioning your rep.” Which is true. Edge is about six foot five and around two hundred and thirty pounds of inked up muscle. He has a general air of menace around him that seems to keep most people at bay. Unless you’ve gotten to know him and realize that he’s only scary if you’ve crossed him. Other than that, he’s one of the most loyal people that I’ve ever met.
“What’s that they say about judging a book by it’s cover?” He asks.
I chuckle. “Mmmhmm. So what are you really doing here?”
He stretches his jean clad legs out and crosses his ankles. “Figured that I’d just stop by and see how you were doing.” He gives me a mischievous grin. “I heard you had a really hot nurse that first day.”
I roll my eyes to the ceiling. “You knew too huh?”
The snort he makes sounds like a damn bear chuffing. “You two weren’t exactly subtle, man. I’m pretty sure even a five-year-old could’ve figured it out.” He brings his beer to his lips before lowering it again. “I never really got why you guys tried to hide it anyway. From what I could tell, you both were pretty damn happy.”
I lean back against my chair. “I dunno. Stace said that she didn’t want the girls to find out. I guess she thought that they wouldn’t like her or something. I just figured that I would go along with it for a while until she got to know them and felt comfortable.”
“Makes sense. It must be kind of scary to be dating someone’s dad. Especially with all the stories that have gone around about your girls.” He gives a deep belly laugh. “Hell, if I was Stacey, I’d be afraid that I’d be covered in pigs blood or some shit too.”
I give him a smirk. “It was paint and they used Kayla’s little kids to do their bidding.”
He blinks at me for a few moments. “That’s even more terrifying man.”
I tilt my beer bottle towards him. “Which is why I went along with keeping it a secret. I figured that I would just ease her into life with them.”
“Then came the kiss heard round the world.” The smug ass says with a grin.
“As my friend, shouldn’t you be a little bit more supportive of me. I lost my woman thanks to some random ass woman from my past. How the hell would you feel?” I grumble.
“Shitty for the first few days that I gave my woman to cool off before I went after her ass and made her forgive me. Not mope around like a whiny ass for months while the woman I love comes in with her roommate once or twice a week.” He looks me up and down. “Shit man, did they remove your balls when you retired from fighting?”
“You’re such a dick.”
“At least I’m not walking around like a sad ass pussy who can’t shit or get off the pot.” He gives me a long look. It’s like he’s looking into my soul with his almost black eyes. “You need to man the fuck up and get your woman back.”
I lift my good arm up. “Don’t you think that I’m trying?”
“Not very hard.” He states bluntly, but I guess he’s right. I could’ve tried harder. I just didn’t want to piss her off anymore than she already was. I guess that plan backfired on me though.
“Do you have any useful suggestions or are you just going to sit here talking shit?” I question.
“Luckily for you, I’m a great friend to have.” He gives me a smile that’s slightly creepy. “I do happen to have a plan, but it’s more of a long game. But considering that you haven’t even been in the game, I guess anything is better than nothing at this point.”
I scratch my eyebrow with my middle finger much to his amusement if his grin is anything to go by. “What the hell would you know about a long game? I’ve seen women just walk up to you and throw themselves at you like you’re at an all you can eat buffet.” It’s true. Women seem to go crazy for the whole bad boy thing. Add in the fact that he’s a member of a motorcycle club and the guy probably gets more tail than he even knows what to do with.
He leans forward and rests his elbows on his thighs. The look on his
