tossed the rag on my desk. As Leon left the room, his voice dropped. I wasn’t sure if he was talking to himself or poking at me, but it made me want to laugh. “That tone of voice cannot be acceptable. I need to look that up and check on the rules.”
He was so funny.
But yeah, the tone wasn’t very nice…was he going to punish me for it?
What was Ostrich Daddy’s view of spankings?
Giggling quietly, I grabbed the rag and proceeded to wipe off all the dust that was driving him crazy. When that was done, I vacuumed around the room and even under the bed where the boxes had made it hard to clean before handing it off to Leon.
When I was finished straightening up my desk and dusting a few more places, I looked around the room and realized he’d been right. It was going to be much easier to work this week with everything put away.
Trying to channel Leon, I straightened my bedding and gave the room one last look. No, even Leon wouldn’t be able to see anything to fuss about. Heading out to the living room, I could feel my eyes widen as I took in the changes he’d made.
“Oh, it’s…” Everything had been shifted several feet to make room for my trains, but that wasn’t all. “Where did you get the picture frames from?”
Leon chuckled. “Destin. They were a housewarming gift.”
My trains were on the floor in a good imitation of how I would have laid them out. Above my trains were three empty picture frames with little sticky notes on them that said Leon’s Pictures.
As I walked around the couch and toward my trains, I saw pillows over in the corner that looked like they’d be the perfect place to curl up and play with Barry. “He gave you those too?”
Leon shook his head. “He insisted they were perfect when we were out shopping, and since they were on clearance, I didn’t argue with him. They’ve just been in my closet since I didn’t want them on my bed. I thought this was a good place for them.”
It was perfect.
“It’s my little space, right?” I looked over at him to see him smiling and nodding.
“Yes.” He made a vague gesture toward the toys and pillows. “You didn’t have anything like that in your room, and this will be easy to tuck away if we need to.”
The way he said it made it sound like he’d been researching again and had decided that every little needed at least a small corner to devote to their little side. I hadn’t really minded putting everything away, but this was much better.
“It’s perfect.”
He chuckled as I started for the toys. “Oh no. Shower first and make sure you have everything organized for your classes in the morning, then you can play until it’s bedtime.”
“Aww.” It was a good pout, but all I got was a stern shake of his head.
With the conversation about punishments still fresh in my mind, I decided that complaining might not be the best idea. “I’ll hurry.”
As I walked back to the bedroom, I heard Leon chuckle and say something about making sure I scrubbed. It seemed to be sarcastic and teasing, but he didn’t seem to understand how it could have come across, so I just giggled as I raced to find my pajamas.
My Ostrich Daddy made me want to ask so many questions, but since I wasn’t sure he would’ve been able to answer any of them, I kept my curiosity to myself. Making him self-conscious wasn’t what I wanted. I liked my Ostrich Daddy and I wasn’t going to do anything to screw it up.
Chapter 11
Leon
“You’re okay if he comes over, right?” I didn’t have an issue with Destin seeing Morgan’s little side and I knew Destin wouldn’t have an issue with it, but I wasn’t going to presume even though we’d talked about it previously.
Morgan nodded his head, then grinned. “It’s fine. But maybe have the awkward part of the conversation before I get back?”
“Deal.” Watching as he gathered his bag, I spoke again. “Did you need anything to eat before you go and are you sure you don’t need a ride?”
He’d picked to have lunch as his freebie meal because he’d wanted a frosted, sugary cereal, but I wasn’t sure it was enough to fill him up.
Shaking his head, Morgan walked toward the door. “Nope, I’m good. It’s a short class and I’ll be back before I have
