sight. It’d taken a while to get everything back to normal with our friendship, but we were getting there.
“That would’ve been terrible.” He shook his head like he was having a hard time imagining it. “No wonder he’s a bit…excitable.”
I laughed as I turned back to the stove. “Oh no, that’s just regular Destin. You should have seen clingy, worried Destin. That was almost frightening.”
I glanced back to see Morgan staring at me with wide eyes. “Yep. Not even exaggerating that.”
Shaking his head, he sighed. “That is almost unimaginable.”
I laughed again as I went back to work on breakfast. “Sounds like you’re starting to get to know Destin.”
He chuckled. “I think so.”
I had questions about what they’d been whispering about, but I didn’t want to make him uncomfortable, so I held them back. “Just let me know if he pushes too much or if he bugs you for more personal information than you want to give him.”
Destin was not subtle and had very little appreciation for privacy.
Of course he was better now than last year, but the way his Doms indulged him wasn’t helping.
As the omelet started coming together, I put bread in the toaster and got everything else ready. “Milk, water, or juice?”
I thought it was a reasonable question, but for some reason, he blushed again. Reminding myself nothing that went through his head was my business, I ignored it and focused on the fridge. After a few seconds, he coughed and forced out an answer. “Milk, thanks.”
Nope, not going to ask and I wasn’t curious at all.
“So what are your plans for today? Studying and what else?” That seemed to be a much safer topic.
Morgan groaned.
He sounded a bit like he’d have rather answered questions about the secrets he was hiding away in his room. “Yes, studying and I have to finish a paper.”
I had a feeling that “finishing a paper” was code for he hadn’t even started it. Poking at his answer as I finished getting everything ready, I knew I was right.
Splitting the oversized omelet in two, I thought about his list. “Okay, after breakfast you should probably get started on the paper while you’re fresh, and then you can mix it up between studying, reading, and the paper.”
Putting the toast on the plates, I set everything down on the counter. “I’ll read through it when you’re done if you want another set of eyes. If you finish at a reasonable time, I’ll spring for dinner somewhere.”
I thought it was a reasonable plan until I glanced over and saw him grinning. “What?”
“Nothing.” He shook his head, then focused on the food. “That looks delicious. Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” As I walked over to the fridge to get butter, I noticed him poking at the omelet trying to see what was inside it. I’d prepped a lot of it before he’d come out so asking would have been a legitimate question, but I thought the way he was doing it was cute.
“Ham, cheese, bell peppers, and a bit of spinach. No onions.” I laughed when he looked up guiltily.
“I wasn’t…I mean…” Morgan blushed again. “I don’t mind onions when they’re really well cooked, but on pizzas and eggs…well…”
As his voice trailed off, I nodded. “They’re usually not cooked thoroughly in those types of dishes. I’ll remember that.”
He smiled. “How did you know what I would like in the omelet?”
It hadn’t been that difficult. “You get different combinations of the same toppings almost every time. I just picked out some that I knew would work well in the eggs.”
Morgan nodded but was still smiling like something was funny. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” I pointed to his food as I came around the other side of the counter to sit down beside him. “Now eat so you can get started on the work. Lunch will be a good time for a break, so I’ll take care of that. You don’t need the distraction of ordering something.”
He let out a quiet giggle as he dug into his food. “Okay, that sounds fine.”
Because it was the perfect plan to get him caught up, and if he stayed focused, maybe I’d make him something fun for a midafternoon break. I’d found a recipe for brownies that had quite a bit of vitamins added in. It wouldn’t make up for the sugar, but at least they wouldn’t be completely empty calories.
As we finished eating, Morgan started to pick up our plates. Shaking my head, I grabbed them both. “I’ll take care of this. You go
