let go of me. “And with that, I think I should be going,” he laughed, “Because as I’m looking at your face and I’m hearing you say yes, I’m thinking of something else.”
“What are you thinking of?” I teased, knowing I should keep my mouth shut, knowing I was asking for trouble.
“I think you know,” he said. His hand lightly grazed my breast, and I trembled slightly, and then he turned around. “Goodnight, beautiful Gemma. I’ll text you tomorrow. Sweet dreams.” I watched as he walked away, my heart racing, my panties wetter than ever, and I went back upstairs to my apartment.
I lay on the bed and let out a huge sigh as I lightly touched my lips. The kiss had been magical. He had been magical. Everything about the night had been magical. And as I lay there, I was almost positive in my mind that Connor was going to be the one that I picked. Everything about him was perfect and if our dates continued the way that they were going, my fairy tale was definitely going to come true.
Chapter 12
I had mixed feelings about going on my date with Lucas. Yes, I was excited, but I couldn’t stop thinking about Connor. The kiss that we’d shared the night before had been absolutely amazing and I’d spent all night thinking about it. I’d spent the night thinking about what would have happened if I’d let him come up to my apartment. I took a deep breath and then continued walking down the street to meet Lucas in the park.
Today, our date was going to be slightly unconventional. We were going to go for a walk through Central Park, have a little picnic, and then we were going to go to an escape room. The reason I wanted to take Lucas to an escape room was because I wanted to see if he could come out of his shell. I wanted to see if he could have some fun in the most weird of circumstances. He had shown me that he could be attentive, but I wasn’t sure if he was too stiff for me.
I had done a couple of escape rooms before, but they’d always been with a lot of people. And even then we’d found it hard to get out, so I knew it’d be almost impossible for two people to figure their way out. But that was the fun of it; I wanted to see if Lucas could relax and joke around while trying to solve the logic games, or if he’d be uptight and tense, pissed off at himself for not being able to get us out in time.
I wanted a guy that was intelligent, yeah, but I didn’t want a guy that was so serious that he couldn’t have a little bit of fun. And that was one of my worries about Lucas. He was an attorney, and the attorneys I’d known before weren’t exactly the most fun-loving of the bunch. Most of them worked a hundred hours a week and did cocaine on the side just to stay awake. That wasn’t the sort of guy I was looking for.
As I made my way into the park, I walked with a pep in my step. I was excited even though it was cold, at least it wasn’t snowing. Yeah, snow would have made for a more beautiful scenic park and date, but walking in snow and ice was not something that I wanted to do, especially seeing as I was wearing boots with a high heel. I spotted Lucas standing by a tree and walked over to him. He was so tall and handsome, in a much more sophisticated way than Connor was. Lucas was the dark debonair sophisticated man. Whereas Connor was the sexy scruffy musician that could easily be mistaken for a model or hobo. But today was about Lucas. He walked toward me with a bouquet of flowers in his hand and I could feel my heart melting. He was just so thoughtful.
“Hi there, Gemma. Good to see you.” He gave me a kiss on one cheek and handed me the flowers. “I hope you like them. I was thinking about getting roses, but roses are so cliche.”
“No, these are beautiful. Thank you.“
“Yeah, there are some daffodils, sunflowers, a couple of petunias.”
“It’s a beautiful bouquet. I’m flattered.” I held them in my hand and he groaned. “What’s wrong?” I asked him softly.
He looked annoyed. “I just realized you’re going to
