wouldn?t leave.
What was worse was the pain that he felt inside. His heart ached at the memory of Jane being ripped away from him and the questions of what was happening to her as he struggled for even one clue to lead him to her. And not only did he feel like his heart had had a dagger plunged into it, there was the physical pain from being apart from Jane. The pain in his stomach was becoming a dull constant.
The only thing that brought him relief, although it was very little, was finding a plan to bring his Jane back to him.
He?d went over the map and marked where his Alpha?s territory extended into the surrounding area. He had called everyone in the area who worked for his pack and told them to review the pictures in the email he?d sent them. Next, he marked out the neighboring territories that belonged to other packs and compared the sketches to members of those packs. When none of them fit the description, he?d notified the Alphas to what had happened and asked that they, too, check the email he?d sent out.
Ica sat in the corner in an old cushioned chair and drew more sketches from different angles of the men she?d seen in Dirk?s mind. He was shocked that the girl had stayed and wanted to help for two reasons. The first, being that she didn?t know them and had no reason to want to get involved in something so dangerous and the second, was the fact that she?d seemed terrified of him when she?d seen what he was. But even after he?d reminded her that there would be a lot more werewolves come morning, she had still wanted to stay.
He knew that she?d be helpful, but was afraid that there?d be a turning point where she?d hinder his plans instead of aid them.
He hadn?t spoken much to her; They?d each sat in silence doing their own part to try to find Jane.
Around ten, Dirk was still studying the maps and trying to find a location where his enemy may be hiding Jane. There were a few regions that weren?t part of any pack?s territory and he thought that those places should be where they investigated first. Surely, they wouldn?t be hiding in another pack?s territory. That would be far too risky.
He heard footsteps approaching the motel and he could tell by the way that their feet landed on the pavement that it was the team Kasimir had sent to assist him.
He opened the door and found Fritz standing on the other side, looking a tad more irritable than usual, if that was possible. ?How are you?? Fritz grunted out, although he seemed genuine.
Dirk sighed, unsure how to answer his question. How was he? He hadn?t fallen apart yet. He?d been too busy working, but when he ran out of tasks to occupy himself, he may start shredding everything around him.
?That?s what I thought,? Fritz replied to his unspoken answer. ?Don?t worry, Delta, we will find her.?
Dirk nodded and stepped to the side so that he could enter.
?I?m sorry we weren?t here sooner, Delta. We were delayed at the airport. It took a while for the rental agency to find us three SUVs with third row seating.?
?How many men did our Alpha send?? Dirk asked as two men entered the room behind Fritz and closed the door.
?There are two dozen of us total,? Fritz answered. ?There are twenty Sigmas out in the parking lot. A team of five for each of us,? he explained, gesturing to Dirk, himself and the two Kappa officers.
Dirk nodded, then glanced back at Ica who still sat in the chair in the corner. She hadn?t moved since the other three men had entered the room. Dirk wasn?t even sure that she?d been breathing. She just sat there, still as stone.
He watched as Fritz followed his gaze and his eyes narrowed at Ica. ?That leads me to the next topic. Ist sie eine Hexe??
Dirk stared at him and could hardly believe the words that had come from his mouth. ?Is she a witch?? How would Fritz, or anyone else for that matter have known?
Dirk nodded slowly, still stunned and Fritz chuckled uncharacteristically. ?Our Alpha suspected.?
?But how?? Dirk asked. How did his Alpha know half of the things he did?
?He wanted the absolute best sketch artist and when he reviewed her work, he said that it couldn?t be natural talent.?
Dirk shook his head. This was the reason Kasimir
