than most of the men who work for me. I believe you?d do well with sniper training.?
?Sniper training?? she questioned.
?Yes. A sniper is an agent skilled in taking extremely long shots. You know the world record is held by a werewolf.?
?Really? That?s very interesting.?
?Yes at 2.47 kilometers, it is quite impressive. But of course no human will ever top it. Our kind is much more sensitive to our surroundings and can adjust to the circumstances easier for the shot.?
Before Jane could give it anymore thought Dirk turned and stalked back towards the building. He took the gun from her and returned it to the place he?d gotten it. After locking the room yet again, he grabbed another gun from a wall outside the room. Jane watched as he inspected it, then filled it full of paintballs. Paintballs? What was he doing?
Dirk turned to her and said, ?Transform into your wolf form and head for the woods behind the targets you were shooting. You?ve got a fifteen minute head start.?
?What am I supposed to do next?? Jane questioned.
Dirk held the gun up against his chest and smiled, ?Hide.?
Jane turned, running outside and towards the woods he?d indicated. She smiled to herself when she felt a tingling sensation rush from her head to her toes and before she knew it, she?d transformed into a wolf and was running on four feet instead of two, fighting her way out of her clothing. She found it odd that she was able to transform with such ease, being that she couldn?t remember doing it before, though she was sure that she had.
So Dirk wanted a chase. Well she?d give him a chase. She ran full speed into the trees and began running in large circles. She knew Dirk would be tracking her and following her scent, so she was going to make it difficult for him. After making nearly a dozen large circles, she veered to the right along the tree line, just deep enough in the forest that Dirk wouldn?t be able to spot her from the field as he approached. She watched from the top of the hill as Dirk entered the woods and once he was among the trees, she journeyed further from him, to the other side of the hill. Once she was safely hidden from his view by the hill, she ran as quickly and as quietly as she could back to the building that Dirk had gotten the gun from.
She found shelves near the entrance that were filled with the uniforms she?d seen on the others. She transformed and quickly pulled a pair of pants and a t-shirt on, all the while, glancing over her shoulder to be sure no one was coming. She pulled on a pair of boots that luckily, must have been women?s boots, because they were small and very close to fitting her. She pulled another paintball gun from the wall and loaded it just as she?d seen Dirk do, then exited, pumping the gun as she decided on her course of action.
Surely Dirk was a wise tracker and was close to finding her trail by now, so it wasn?t a good idea to go back the direction she?d came. Instead, she opted to circle back to the left and enter the woods from the opposite side that her trail would be leading him.
She jogged quickly across the field, smiling to herself that her plan was coming together. When she reached to woods, she stalked through the brush with the gracefulness of a wild wolf, not making any noise as she moved. She headed towards her trail that she was sure Dirk had found by now and grinned when he came into view. She glanced down at her gun and wondered what kind of power it held. Would she be able to reach him from the safe distance between them? Or did she need to gain more ground and wait until she was closer?
Deciding that she shouldn?t give away her position until she was sure she could hit her mark, she pressed on, quickly but quietly gaining on unsuspecting Dirk.
She watched as he scanned the forest ahead of him, the direction her scent was leading him. Apparently he?d underestimated her and didn?t think that she?d circle back.
When she was finally close enough that she was sure the gun would reach, she kneeled on the ground, steading her stance against a tree, taking her aim and pulled the trigger. She saw the paint splatter on his
