met Caleb and Bryce, these two behind me are Malik and Killian.” I take in her four men, and I've got to say, I can definitely appreciate. Each of them tall, obviously well built, and just so striking.
“Now we're all introduced, I'd like to catch up with Mara, sort out those pesky memories,” Morgan says with a huge smile.
“I do not think...” Levi starts but Morgan shoots him a look, showing us exactly why she is the Queen of the Shadow Realm. I nearly piss my pants and she doesn't even look at me.
“She will be better equipped to navigate this realm if she remembers her visits here before. This is not a place to just stumble through. You have been lucky to this point,” she says firmly, her emerald eyes darkening.
“I don't know that I'd call it lucky,” I murmur and all eyes shift to me.
“Yes, well, we'll deal with that too, once we catch up,” Morgan says with a tight smile.
“Still, she is not an Angel any more. I am not sure how well her body will handle those sorts of memories,” Levi say firmly, looking at me, his eyes crinkled with concern. “The memory of her time as Amantara when we first arrived caused her to seize. She bled from her eyes, ears, and nose.”
“Well, then why not grant her immortality back?” Morgan asks, crossing her arms.
“I can do no such thing,” Levi says, and the others just look shocked.
“It seems, my dear Leviathan, that you do not know everything you should know,” she sighs. “Before we jump into all of this, let’s eat, I'm starved.” She claps her hands and a table for ten appears in the middle of the room, upon it more food than I think I've ever seen. I just kind of gawk at the sight of it.
I look back at my guys, Levi looks shocked still from Morgan’s little revelation, whereas the others just kind of look cautious.
“Oh for goodness sake, we're not going to poison you,” Morgan huffs. “Mara was once my closest and dearest friend, despite a lot of prejudice on my part. None of you will come to any harm in my realm from this point. You have my word.” Power sings across the room from her words and I watch as the others relax a little. Strangely, I don't feel any sort of mistrust towards her or the four men with her. Considering who they are, the queen and her Horsemen, I probably should, but I feel so at ease, my instincts telling me to trust them and that small seed of power I felt yesterday just seems settled, at peace, in their presence.
“We can trust them,” I say to my guys. Creek takes me at my word and strolls towards the table where Morgan already sits at the head, her four guys down one side. Leaving the other side and the other end of the table open.
“Come on,” I say to the other three. Kain smiles at me softly and follows Creek. I grab Levi and Roman’s hands, always the more cautious two of the four, and pull them along with me.
“Mara, sit by me. We have so much to catch up on. Starting with how the hell you ended up as a mortal!” She eyes Levi as I sit and he sits down next to me, Roman on his other side. Creek is already seated at the far end of the table, between Kain and Killian.
“Well, for starters, my name is Remy now,” I say with a small laugh.
“Oh no, you will always be Mara to us.” She waves her hands, echoing Caleb's earlier words and he grins at me from his seat next to her, opposite me.
“Okay then.” I laugh.
“So, I see you took my advice and found yourself a harem. I told you it was more fun this way.” She winks at me as she reaches for the food in front of us and starts to fill her plate. Once she starts, the others reach for various plates, and the clink of cutlery fills the air.
“Technically, I have no recollection of that, and all of this is a long story,” I say, putting my hand on Levi's thigh beneath the table. He's still so rigid beside me so I lean into him and kiss his cheek.
“Well, I guess you better start talking then.”
We eat and I tell her what I've been told about my death as Amantara, and my lives since then. She sits
