the other side of the door.
“Hello little Witch, are you ready to give in yet?” Azriel's voice filters through the door and my knees almost give out.
“Let me see her,” I plead.
“Only once you agree to be mine,” he says and I can hear his smile.
“Please, just let me see her, then I'll do whatever you want.” I beg, hating every word, but I'd give anything for my sister.
“As you wish,” he says and the screams stop. I hear a shuffling and my door starts to open. Azriel strides into the room and stands in front of me. “Make one move, and I'll cut her throat. Slowly. Do you understand?”
I nod my head and he grins again. “Don't look so glum, little Witch. You're going to enjoy life at my side. I'll make you immortal, and you'll be mine forever.”
He moves to the side, and I see Rebel, being held up by two Demons, their pale skin glows against her dark skin, blood drips from her fingers and I clench my fists. “Send her home.”
“Once you're mine. But for now, she can stay where I can keep an eye on her,” Azriel says and with a wave of his hand, the two Demons walk away and put her in a room down the hall from me.
“How do I know you won't harm her anymore?” I glare at him. I might be willing to make this deal for her, but I'm not going to make it pleasant for him.
“It's all in the wording sweetheart. Pick your terms carefully.”
I take a deep breath, and prepare myself to sell my soul.
Chapter Twenty-Two
Remy
“Holy shit,” I gasp as I steady myself. Caleb grins at me with a wink, not caring about the grumbling men at my back for a second.
“Welcome back to the Shadow Palace, Mara. The place we call home.” Caleb says waving to the palace in front of us. Though, I'm not sure palace is the right word. The huge, beautiful building is cut out of the black rock halfway up what seems to be a mountain, with a river of lava at its base. Spires reach up as far as the eye can see, gold glitters across the palace at different doors and windows frames.
A winding path leads from where we stand down the mountain, while in front of us is a gate of gold, carved with the most beautiful artwork I've ever seen of vines, flowers, and thorns, framed by a wall of black stone that seems to run the entire length of the palace.
“Come on,” Caleb says and strolls towards the gate, not looking back to make sure we're following.
“Are you sure we can trust him?” Kain asks, still taking in our surroundings.
“He is the guy from my memory, so I'm going to say yes.”
“I just wish he wasn't so... familiar with you already,” Creek grumbles. “Mara, pfft.”
“I kind of want to know how he knew it was me.” I look at Levi who opens his mouth but is interrupted by Caleb.
“Are you guys coming?” He shouts.
“Come on, let’s get going. The sooner we're in, the sooner we can find Fallon,” I say, giving the four of them a reassuring smile before hiking up the path towards Caleb.
“They don't trust me?” He says, that smirk still on his face when I reach him.
“Would you if you were in their position?” I ask and he shakes his head.
“Not a chance,” he laughs. “Come on, Morgan will punish me in the most delightful ways if I don't get you in there soon.”
He grabs my hands and pulls me along with him, letting the guys catch up, Roman’s growls reaching us and just making him laugh harder.
As he approaches the gates, they open, revealing a bridge made of the same black stone, with rushing water below. I follow its path and realize it moves towards a waterfall which leads straight to the lava below. I gulp at the sight, and make sure the guys are close behind.
“No need to worry, Mara. I won't let them get swept away. Not yet anyway.” He winks at me and I roll my eyes.
“You can call me Remy, you know. That’s my name now,” I say and he shrugs.
“I could, but I won't. You've always been Mara to me.”
“Okay then.” I laugh as he pulls me over the bridge, Levi a step behind us and the others with him.
“I'll take you straight to Morgan, and then we'll worry about sleeping arrangements and the likes, but I'm sure
