me to join her, so I do, sitting in front of her. “Close your eyes, and picture a wall around your mind. You used to tell me you made your shield of diamonds. Sparkly enough to distract, but almost impossible to break.”
I laugh, because that doesn’t sound like me at all, but I do as she says, trying to picture the sparkly wall in my mind. It takes a few minutes, because honestly, I feel ridiculous, but if this is what I can do to help Fallon, help everyone, I’m going to god damn do it.
Once I can see it, that dome around my mind, I smile. “I’ve got it.”
“Okay, good. So now, make a door in the wall, nothing too big, just enough to let me in.” I do as she asks, and laugh internally about how easily I trusted her enough to do this, because with anyone else, there’s not a chance in hell I’d do this. Not with anyone from here anyway.
“Done.” I smile at her, my eyes still closed.
“Perfect. Okay, open the door,” she says, taking my hands. I open it slightly, and I feel a bridge connect between us. It’s like the one I have with Kain, but different. I know, somehow, I could shatter the bridge and expel her from my mind if I wanted to. I wait, while I feel her looking at the box I shut away that little piece of power in, and try to stop myself from kicking her out when she lifts the lid of the box a little.
“Well, that’s not just a little seed of power after all,” she whispers, before withdrawing from my mind and taking her hands from mine.
“What do you mean?” I ask, confused. I’ve felt it, it’s hardly anything at all.
“You are… different. You’re not just one thing, and it’s something that has never been seen before.” Her eyes are wide, and I feel panic claw at my throat from her words.
“Morgan, you’re going to have to explain a little more right now, you’re freaking me the fuck out.”
Her eyes go glassy, as if she’s not really with me anymore. Blackness wraps around us, and seconds later, I find us back in that throne room. I find Morgan, on the floor beside me, her eyes still glassy.
“Morgan.” I shake her, trying to figure out what the fuck is going on. “Morgan!”
She doesn’t stir at all, and that panic claws at me harder.
What the fuck have I done?
Kain! I shout down that internal link I have with him.
Remy? What’s wrong, mon amour?
You guys need to come back, quick, somethings wrong with Morgan.
It doesn't take long before Kain and Malik appear in the room, Malik roars as he sees me hovering over Morgan. He rushes towards me and flings me across the room without even touching me. I crash into a wall, my entire body hurts as I slide toward the floor. I can barely open my eyes as I see him crouch over her, as Kain appears at my side, hissing towards Malik.
Caleb and Levi arrive next, followed quickly by the others and that's when the shit hits the fan. Creek and Roman rush towards me as I try to push myself up as the room begins to shake. Bryce and Killian join Malik, guarding Morgan while Caleb and Levi yell. Levi's storm reaches me, and the room shakes harder as Caleb loses control of his anger.
“Wait!” I gasp, but no-one is looking at me anymore. Everyone is watching the two of them, readying to join the fight that threatens to break out in front of us all.
“Wait!” I say, louder, and Levi's eyes jump to me before turning back to Caleb. “Please,” I manage close to a shout, my lungs and throat burning from the effort, because whatever the fuck Malik hit me with, damn near ruined me.
“What is it?” Caleb bites out and I wince. Roman helps me into a sitting position while I try not to cry out and make this entire situation blow up.
“Morgan, she went into my mind...” I wheeze and Caleb's eyes go wide, and the room stops shaking abruptly
“Why would she do that?” He eyes me, moving towards me, but halting as Levi blocks the way as Roman growls.
“Stop, all of you, please. Just stand the fuck down,” I gasp as pain rocks through me again.
“Stand down?” Levi roars. “Remy, I can feel your fucking pain. I'll rip their fucking heads off.”
“He didn't mean to...” I try to
