another time I guess, I’d need to do some research, but there might not be much, you are something of an anomaly. Regardless, there are a lot of journals here, so since those guys don’t seem like the research types, do you want some help going through everything?”
“That would be good thank you, and next time you need my blood, just give me some warning.” I scowl but he smiles at me.
“Sorry, not used to your human sensibilities I guess.”
“Not a sensibility, it’s manners,” I tell him, a mix of pissed off and thankful.
“Well, then, my apologies,” he says with a small smile, and hands me the knife and another of the journals.
“Dig in.”
We’ve been going through the journals for what feels like hours, and other than learning that Amantara was a very one track minded Angel, I’ve not learned much more than Levi was a douchebag as a boss. Even with their love affair. Soft when they were together alone, and then straight up asshole mode when they were with others.
I’ve rolled my eyes so hard I worried at one point they’d get stuck.
Nevin’s reading has been slightly more successful. He’s found a few mentions of the Shadow Realm, but nothing beyond how I opened and closed normal portals. Nothing about how to take people with me, and nothing about how people who aren’t Shadow Walkers would fare getting across.
I sigh and get back to reading, well scanning the pages. Angel life was boring without war apparently. I flick through a few more pages when I pause and skip back.
I managed it today, after so many tries, I managed to create the seal on the Shadow Realm. Luckily I’m immortal, because without me, that realm will be sealed completely, though if I were to die, the magic keeping it bound might fade. It’s not something I can find out, and this isn’t something I trust other people with. There’s been so much destruction in this war, so many lives lost, on both sides.
Such meaningless loss.
It hurts me to witness just how much devastation there has been. But now is not the time to focus on that. I need to seal the portal to the Shadow Realm. I’m meeting with Morganna tomorrow to make sure everything is ready. She is tired of the Demon foolishness, especially when she didn’t want this war either.
With her help, I’ll be able to finish the seal, linking it to her power and mine.
That was my final discovery, that it takes both sides to make it as strong as it needs to be. Thankfully she was willing to part with a vial of her blood for my experiment.
Who the fuck is Morganna?
I look up and find Nevin watching me, and I raise my eyebrows. “Everything okay?”
“You asked me who Morganna is?” He says, looking at me like I’ve lost my mind.
“Oh, I didn’t realize I’d said that out loud, sorry,” I tell him and he smiles.
“It’s okay, except, I have no clue who Morganna is. Can I see?” He asks and I pass the journal over to him, pointing out the part I’d just read.
“Interesting,” he hums just as the others enter the room, all in shorts, topless, sweaty, and excessively drool worthy.
“Earth to Remy,” Nevin snaps his fingers and laughs while I make sure I’m not actually drooling.
“Sorry, didn’t meant to distract you,” Levi smirks and the others snicker with him.
“Well, I’m glad you guys are all getting along at least.” I stick my tongue out at them. “Don’t suppose any of you know a Morganna do you?”
“This feels like a trick question,” Roman says, putting his hands up and I can’t help the laugh that falls out of me.
“Not a trick,” Nevin answers. “It would appear Amantara had help sealing the portal, and because she died, or at least, was reborn as a Hunter, that’s why the portal’s been able to be reopened. I’m sure whoever Morganna is, she’s pretty pissed about that little fact too since she apparently donated her blood to the cause.”
“Well, I guess your afternoon has been productive,” Levi says and I humph.
“I also learned you were a shitty boss.” I stick my tongue out at him again and he shakes his head.
“Keep sticking that tongue out, and I’ll find a better use for it,” he warns and I pull it back in my mouth and blush.
Fucking Angel.
“I was a fair boss. Anyway, I’ve heard of a Morganna, but it can’t be the same one.” Levi shrugs and grabs
