around the bed to get to the door where I stopped to look at the two of them again.
Ira was lying on his back with his face buried in Wells’s chest, and Wells had one arm above Ira’s head while the other was wrapped around his body.
They looked adorable all cuddled up, so I pushed the door open to get out of the bedroom and walk down the hall to the bathroom.
After freshening up a little, I headed to the kitchen and brewed coffee, then cleaned up around the kitchen and living room, just so Wells wouldn’t have to deal with it later.
He had cleaned up after himself and Ira too many times already.
I had left my phone on the kitchen counter last night, and when I picked it up to check who had messaged me, AJ’s name was the only one I saw.
I sighed and rolled my eyes even before reading his messages, but after what happened that night in my room, I knew it wasn’t just to check in with me and ask how I was doing.
I tapped on the message he sent first and opened it to read it, and it was already leaving a bad taste in my mouth without ever having to say it.
I’m fucking Dana because I can’t have you.
At least she’s into guys her age.
I hope it’s worth fucking that older guy.
The messages were sent last night at three fifty-six a.m., and all I could think of was, he must’ve been very, very drunk.
I sighed again, this time much heavier than before, and because I couldn’t let this slip like a normal person, I replied to those three very offensive messages.
That’s not very kind, Aiden. Even when you’re drunk.
I put my phone away and poured myself a cup of coffee, then sat down on the couch and pulled my legs close to my body to get some comfort after reading those horrible things.
How dare he?
We were done a long time ago, he made a mistake to come close to me without my permission, and now he was trying to make me jealous or whatever it was he was doing by sending me shit like that.
Not acceptable.
I took a few sips of my coffee and tried to get my mind off AJ, and to my luck, Ira walked around the corner and into the kitchen with his bare feet and Superman pajamas.
“Good morning, little man. You’re up early,” I said, keeping my voice low.
He nodded and rubbed his eyes with both fists, then came over to the couch to stand in front of me.
“Is daddy still asleep?” I asked, brushing my hand through his blond locks to tame them.
It didn’t work, but I liked his wild look.
Just like Wells’s.
He nodded again.
He wasn’t much of a talker early in the morning, but then, I didn’t blame him.
It was almost seven-thirty.
His eyes moved to my coffee cup, and I smiled as he kept them there with his lips parted.
“Would you like to drink something?” I asked, not trusting myself with food around him because I wasn’t sure what he could and couldn’t have.
“Water please?”
“All right. Let me get you a cup.” I smiled at him and got up from the couch to put my coffee down, and as I walked over to the kitchen, he climbed onto the couch and stared at the black TV screen.
Not sure if he wanted to watch something, but I thought I’d ask.
“Would you like to watch something on TV or play with your toys until daddy wakes up?”
I brought the cup of water back to him and he took it out of my hands to drink a few sips.
“I wanna watch TV,” he said, his little voice soft and sweet.
“Do you have a favorite cartoon you like to watch?”
I sat back next to him and grabbed the remote to turn on the TV as he shook his head and shrugged.
“Hm, we’ll find something,” I promised him, and sure enough, cartoons I watched when I was his age popped up on the screen.
“Looney Tunes! Do you know them?” I asked, looking at him as he was already fully focused.
He gave me a quick nod, then pointed at the screen and said, “It’s Bugs Bunny!”
“Yeah, that is him!” I replied, smiling and somewhat proud that a kid these days still knew who Bugs Bunny was.
I grabbed my coffee again and took a few sips to finish it, then placed the cup back on the coffee table again to get more comfortable on
