a friend, but he went too far.
“How about a cup of tea and a good movie to end the night?” he suggested.
I nodded, but before he could pull me into the living room, I pushed myself up on my tiptoes and kissed him gently on the lips, holding on to his shoulders tightly.
His hands were still cupping my face, but when he deepened the kiss, he moved them down to my waist, then further down to cup my ass.
He kept them there, but moved his left hand up to pull me closer by placing it on my lower back.
Our tongues met, and it didn’t take too long for a simple kiss to turn into a deep, passionate one.
He held me close and squeezed my ass gently while I buried my hands into his locks, pulling and tugging until a groan made his chest vibrate.
Automatically, I had to press my thighs together to stop the tingling between my legs, but the more he squeezed and touched my body, the more intense the tingles got.
This was another reason why I knew things between Wells and me were different than with AJ.
I didn’t feel those things when Aiden touched me, and my heart never pounded this fast in my chest when he kissed me.
Wells had a different effect on me, and I loved every single moment of having him this close.
After his tongue brushed against mine one more time, he pulled back to look at me again with a grin.
“Or we could skip the movie and head straight to bed,” he suggested, making me laugh.
I moved my fingers against the back of his head and placed the other at his chest, looking down at it and puckering my lips.
“As inviting as that sounds, I’d love to cuddle up on the couch with you,” I told him in a whisper.
“Okay. Get comfortable. I’ll be right with you.”
He placed a kiss to my forehead, then picked up my clothes and headed into his bedroom to put them on the bed.
I smiled, watching him for a moment before walking to the living room and sitting down on the couch, pulling the blanket over my legs.
“What kind of tea would you like?” he asked.
I turned my head to look at him, and after thinking about it for a second, I replied, “I’ll have whatever you’re having.”
I waited on him to choose a movie to watch tonight, and once he sat down next to me on the couch, he placed both cups on the coffee table.
“What’s Aiden doing up there, by the way?” he asked out of curiosity.
“I don’t know. I guess Evie invited him and two other friends to watch a movie. He brought a date, so I have no idea what’s gotten into him.”
I didn’t tell him about AJ telling me he had fallen in love with me, because for some reason, I didn’t believe he actually did.
Maybe he was defeated, felt bad or hated the thought of not getting a girl so he had to show off his alpha side.
AJ was a good guy, but tonight he had shown me a side of him I never knew existed.
“He’s unsure. That’s what I get out of this. I don’t know him, but when men start to act like assholes, they are unhappy with themselves,” Wells said.
I gave him a tight smile and nodded.
Figured so.
“So…if you start acting like an asshole, I know it’s not because of me but because of you?” I asked, mocking him.
“Pretty much, yeah. Hold anything against me if that happens, but I promise you’ll never have to see that side of me.”
I leaned against him and took a deep breath. “I feel good when I’m around you,” I whispered.
“Good, because I intend on keeping you right here next to me.”
Chapter Twenty
Wells
It didn’t take long for Rooney to fall asleep in my arms last night, and once she did, I carried her into my bedroom to put her into bed which was far more comfortable than the couch.
I had taken off the pants she had worn to the zoo, just so she was more comfortable while sleeping.
She didn’t wake, and I tried my best not to get too close to a part of her body she didn’t want me to get close to.
It was obvious that she trusted me even in her sleep, because if a stranger tried to undress me, I’d definitely wake up from it.
Her eyes were still closed and her breathing flat and calm, but then, it was still early
