boomed.
Nanya looked around and gasped.
Amish smiled. “Ravish, what excellent timing.”
Ravish eyed Nanya. “Hello, sweetness.”
She looked him up and down then glanced back at Amish. “Why are you demon types so damn hot?”
Ravish reached out his hand. “You want hot? Come with me, my sweet, tender morsel. I’ll show you hot.” He glanced at his feet.
She backed away. “Where do you want to take me?”
“Below.” He pointed. “It’s where the sweet sounds of torture and pain never end. Did I mention the burning flesh?” He lifted an eyebrow, then winked.
Amish lowered his head to hide his smile.
“Okay,” she moved closer to Amish. “What do you devils want from me? What do I have to do to stay here with Amish?”
Amish came down off the throne. “You’re going to contact an angel. You’re going to give him some very important information. Is that clear?”
“An angel? How am I supposed to contact an angel when you dragged me out of that place?” she countered.
“This angel is above, on earth.”
“And I want to talk to him,” Ravish interjected. “I need to talk to him. I miss him so much.”
“You boys and your lovers. Can’t you hang onto them for more than five minutes?” she muttered. Then she shook her head. “You miss an angel? I don’t get it. You are a demon. Isn’t that kind of thing frowned upon?”
“Exactly.” Ravish grinned. “The forbidden is always more seductive. I need you to reach him.”
“This angel got a name?” she eyed him.
“Azrael,” Ravish told her.
“So, what’s the plan? It looks like you guys are cooking up something, something that’s not going to set well with anyone around here.” She waited. “Am I right?”
Amish sighed. “Ravish and Azrael love each other. They want to be together. I want to get back to Liam. The sooner, the better.”
“Although I’m a sucker for a good love story, how is this going to work exactly?” She narrowed her eyes.
“You know what we’re planning?” Ravish asked. “I’m amazed.”
“I have skills,” she said, tipping up her chin. “Anyway, it’s not going to work.”
“How do you know?” Amish and Ravish asked at the same time.
“Well, Amish,” she said, “for Ravish and Azrael to take over the joint, you gotta die. That’s not easy to do, since you’re immortal.”
“I have the sword of Gideon,” Amish protested. “It will do the job.”
“Wait.” Ravish put up a hand. “Whoa, slow down there. No one said anything about running you through with that demon killer.”
Amish folded his arms across his chest. “There is no other way. It’s a risk, but if you destroy my immortal soul, leaving my body outside the portal, Liam could bring me back.”
Nanya burst out laughing.
Amish wasn’t amused.
When she saw his face, she sobered. “I’m sorry, but honestly, you’re not sleeping beauty, and your Liam isn’t the prince.”
Ravish grinned. “No, but my Azrael is not without power.” He snapped his fingers. “If Liam could resuscitate you in time, Azrael might be able to give you mortality.”
Amish nodded. He’d do anything to see Liam again, even if it was for only a brief time. “What are we waiting for? Let’s do it.”
Nanya gasped. “You’d give up your immortality for this Liam guy? He must be something.”
“He’s the love of my immortal soul,” Amish said softly.
“Well, I guess we better get started then,” she said. “But what if—”
Ravish shook his head, putting a finger to his lips. “There are too many what ifs. So, don’t say it. Let’s take it one step at a time.”
Nanya made a face. “Okay, but when the Dark Lord finds out what we’re up to, he’s going to shit bricks. I’m not taking the blame for this.”
Amish sighed. “Don’t worry about that. You’re not the one he’ll come for. Now, let’s get started.”
Chapter Four
Liam was just about to lock up his office when he spotted a young man standing in the corridor. He was one of the most stunning men he’d ever seen, blond hair, fair skin, dressed in jeans and a blue t-shirt. “I’m sorry,” Liam said, “I was just about to close up. Are you a student here?” Now, stop that, Liam. You could be his father.
“Ah, no,” the young man came closer. He had blue, blue eyes. “My name is Azrael. Is there somewhere we can talk, Liam?”
He’d called him Liam. “Ah, do we know each other?”
“Yes, kind of. Look, we can’t talk here. Let’s go outside.”
Liam narrowed his eyes. “Listen, if you’re looking to be admitted to the program, we already—”
“No, it’s not about that. Please.”
They
