smiled warmly as I watched her. It was a pleasant picture watching my dog sleep in this room. But even though staring at her filled me with happiness, I couldn’t stop the worry from seeping into my bloodstream. My mind was constantly going over everything that had happened the last couple of days and I just couldn’t figure out what was going on.
“I can’t believe you’re letting that mutt sleep on my bed.” Wade walked into his room, his hair still wild and crazy, his eyes intent on my face. “You’ve been sleeping in here?”
“You didn’t know that?”
“Would I be asking if I did?” He raised an eyebrow at me. “Miss me, did you?”
“No, but I put Lucy in my room. I didn’t want to put her in another room without your permission.”
“Shouldn’t you have gotten my permission for her to stay in the first place?”
“I didn’t know I had to get your permission for every small thing that I did.”
“Well, seeing as I told you she couldn’t be here in the first place.”
“Are you saying we have to leave?” I stood up.
“I’ll snuggle next to Jolene myself if it means you’ll stay.” He walked over to me with a small grin. I watched as he pat Jolene on the back uncomfortably and held in a laugh. He obviously was not comfortable around dogs. Had he never had a pet before?
“So you're telling me that if I stay, you will sleep with Jolene?”
“Well I don't really want to sleep with Jolene, but if that's the only option to make you stay, then sure I'll love her and kiss her and do whatever you want me too.”
“Really?” I laughed.
“Really, know I'll do whatever I want. You have the power.” He paused and then smirked. “Well when I say whatever you want, there are some limitations.”
“What limitations?”
“I guess I'll just have to find out.”
“Wow you must really want me to stay.”
“I think that's obvious.”
“Why do you want me to stay?”
"I think you know the answer to that." I stared at him for a few seconds looking at the smile on his face and the glint in his eyes and I wondered what he was thinking. Did he want me to stay because he wanted me in his bed or was it more than that? What was in his heart? What was in his mind? Was he falling for me like I was falling for him? It all seemed like such a dream and I didn't know exactly what to believe. My mind was telling me that he liked me, as more than just a one night stand and as more than just one of his employees that he found attractive. My mind was telling me that this was something special, but I couldn't ignore the fact that he was keeping so many secrets. I needed to know what he'd been talking about that night I needed to know how I could destroy him and Henry.
"What are you thinking about Savannah?" He touched my shoulder lightly and then his fingers ran along my shoulder blade towards my face. He then cupped my chin and tilted my face up to him. I stared up into his eyes. They were so green and mesmerizing; and reminded me of a sparkling emerald that was spotlighted by the sun. We just stared at each other for what seemed like hours, even though I knew it was only a few minutes. There was an unspoken understanding between us; a buzzing, a chemistry, a feeling that I couldn't quite explain. It was like he was reading my thoughts and I was reading his ,yet both of us were thinking in foreign languages that the other one didn't understand.
“I need to kiss you.” He whispered and then he leaned forward and pressed his lips against mine and it felt as if one million bombs were going off at the same time. The explosion in my heart was something I’d never felt before, but as his lips pressed against mine the familiar feeling of his tongue warmed me. I felt myself melting against him, wanting more than anything to just be with him one more time. His fingers found my hair and he pulled just that little bit too hard so that my scalp was tingling slightly. I didn't mind though, in fact the slight pain mixed with the ecstasy of his lips against mine made the kiss feel even more exciting and special. Even though I was standing up I
