you to your Chosen One, Adam.”
“That's not how it's supposed to go!” Amelia complained, folding her little arms.
“Ah, but you’re forgetting, sweetheart, that is exactly how it went,” Dom said with a wink, and at this Little Bean screwed her face up as if she was thinking really hard about something before she then said,
“Half of my broccoli and two carrots.” Then she walked off towards the table, leaving Dom chuckling and Toots now being the one to shake her head as if she didn't know what to do with her daughter.
“She gets it from you,” Keira said to her husband when he approached, wrapping an arm around her and pulling her tight against him,
“Beauty from her mother, and formidable in business just like her father, I believe the Gods have blessed us indeed,” he said, making her grin up at him.
“That was smooth, Kingio, real smooth,” I said, nudging his arm making Keira laugh. After this the three of us made our way to the table where Sophia and her husband, Zagan, were already there talking with Amelia and asking her about her day. Vincent, her uncle, and also the King’s brother, was also in attendance and someone who I could see was sneaking vegetables from her plate. Then he would wink down at her and place a finger to his lips like it was a secret, making her giggle behind her hand.
As for me, well I spent the entire time unable to eat a thing and looking longingly at the door in hopes that Adam would come back.
Unfortunately, this didn’t happen.
And just like I had felt that first day back in the mortal realm…
It was as though I had lost my greatest love all over again.
DERBYSHIRE
OOCTOBER 9TH 1680
The day I came back was the very same day I proved my point.
Lucifer had made a mistake.
Now, upon first opening my eyes, I didn't know many of the details surrounding it, for example I didn't know how long it was before Abaddon realised the impostor wasn't me, but I had a pretty good idea that it was a lot quicker than Lucifer ever imagined it would be.
This was confirmed very quickly after finding myself waking up in yet another room I had never seen before. I had to say, that waking up and not knowing where I was would have been classed as a habit, had not nearly eighty years gone by since the last time this happened. Because this time, well all I could say was that where I was now was somewhere very grand, somewhere very expensive and somewhere that no doubt belonged to a king of some sort.
The theme of the room was definitely one of my favourite colour pallets, being that it matched my eyes. A feature that I happened to like on myself. It was a vivid forest green with blue accents around the room, and what I liked to call colours of the peacock.
It also seemed as if fashion had changed somewhat since the last time I was amongst humans. As now these great drapes that hung down and framed the large windows, were fabrics to be seen elsewhere in the room, now matching other elements, like the coverings on the bed and cushions on the seats. There were even swags of the same material that hid the doors behind them, no doubt done in an attempt was ward off the draught from the winter months.
“This would make beautiful coloured hair,” I said as my first thing in the mortal realm in what must have been nearly eighty years. It also made me wonder if one day someone would invent a way to dye hair the same lush and vibrant colours that surrounded me today, just as they could with fabrics. That would certainly be a day to remember for me.
I swung the covers back and got out of the large bed, stretching and yawning as I did so. And it had to be said that despite missing the luxury of an actual bed it was not enough for regret…
Not nearly enough.
For I would never regret my time spent in Hell, for no amount of luxury could make up for what I had now lost, for the pain of which was only now just sinking in.
“Abaddon.” I uttered his name just as I sank to the floor to my knees, where I bowed my head, now cradling it in my own hands as I wept. I remembered little after Lucifer had granted me my
