the one I have here with Abaddon.”
“But that is where you are wrong again, young one, for it was the Oracle herself that set you on your path and it is one that does not end here, and it does not end with my Beast.” At this I stood up quickly and shouted,
“You lie!” He chuckled, as he enjoyed my reaction, and shrugged his shoulder casually before telling me,
“And what pray do I have to gain from doing such, for I care little should you be fated to another, mortal, or demon alike… just so as long as you can control my own creation, I can assure you that I have no interest beyond that,” he said in a calm tone that unfortunately told me he spoke the truth.
“I don’t care what the Fates say, or the damn Oracle, for I…” I never got anything else out as I soon found myself pinned against the wall and lifted by a single hand that now collared my neck, choking me.
“Be very careful, Imp, for no one disrespects my queen, for I have tortured for far less than the bite of your words… remember that!” he snarled, before dropping me and leaving me trying to catch my breath again in a heap on the floor.
“Now, as for your uses, is this your final answer to which I demand of you?” I heaved in a sigh as I looked at the floor, watching as the angry tears fell and soaked into the carpet. Then I looked up at him from the floor and snapped,
“I will never help you control him… Never!” At this, he grinned down at me before lowering to rest his forearm on a bent knee, getting closer to my level.
“Now, who's to say I have not already discovered a way to calm the Beast, one that doesn't include you, a child of the elemental realm.” I frowned before snarling,
“Nothing is strong enough.” At this, he tapped my nose and made a tutting sound before telling me,
“There you go, breaking your own rules, Imp, by letting assumption rule your mind’s decisions… for it was true once, nothing was born strong enough… not until this moment,” he said, making me suck in a shocked breath. He rose up, pulling me up with him and the moment he let me go, I started staggering backwards. Because I knew now that I had to get back to Abaddon, for this suddenly felt like a trap.
“What, little Imp, did you think I wouldn’t have a backup plan?” he taunted with a laugh. And I knew he was telling the truth because he was right. He wouldn’t have come here without having something else planned. Because this was the King of Hell we were talking about, which meant I didn't really have a chance, and that in turn meant that I barely made it to the door before I was grabbed from behind. Then, after I was yanked back hard against his large body, one that towered over me, I let out a fearful breath.
“You said you would just leave,” I stated, reminding him of his earlier promise.
“That I did, but alas, young one… I didn't say when I left that I wouldn't be taking you with me.” I sucked back my shock, just as a figure emerged from nowhere. A being that was cloaked entirely in a dark blue cloth and was walking towards the tunnel. My mind started to panic at who or what that demon could do, and I just prayed to the Gods that whatever it was, it didn’t hurt Abaddon. Something I once believed impossible. But then Lucifer had been right, assumption was a dangerous thought to have down in Hell. One that could get you killed along with those you cared for and right now in my life, there was only one.
“Abaddon.” I whispered his name in a hopeless tone.
“Aww, come now, take comfort in knowing he will be none the wiser with you gone.”
“Wwwhat doo you mean?” I asked, just as I saw the figure raising their hands up and after a blue light flashed from them, one bright enough to momentarily blind me, I blinked until my sight returned. And it found…
The impossible!
For there now, walking down the tunnel was none other than…
Me.
“No… it… it can’t be,” I stammered out, as a voice started to sing out his name… it was my voice… singing the name belonging to my Beast.
The last sight I saw before the door closed
