His nostrils were flared, his cute little fangs were peeking out from Kee’s lips, and his eyes were half closed. “You feel… so good… just… please… keep…”
Yeah. Dian knew exactly how his mate felt. His balls were tight, and a heavy warmth was spreading across his lower belly. It’s time. He leaned right forward, jolting as that changed the pressure on his insides. “A bit of help here,” he grumbled, crumpled over as far as he could go.
Shifters know what to do, and Kee’s top half bolted up, his teeth sinking into Dian’s neck, right across his existing mating mark. Holy mother! Dian roared. His ass clenched, his balls unloaded, but more importantly, the quiet presence in his mind that had been there since Kee had bitten him the first time now had a voice.
That was fucking amazing. Kee’s voice. In his head.
I love you, Dian sent back as he hung his head, watching the ever-present pixie dust swirl around them, waiting for Kee to finish licking over his bite. Will love you forever.
Then, as his breathing was settling, Dian saw something out of the corner of his eye. “Hey,” he said softly, “did you know you had wings?”
“Huh?” Kee was resting against his neck as he looked up, Dian could see he was close to sleeping. “Good thing I didn’t lay back right away then. They tickle. I wondered what was tickling my back.” His voice dropped to a murmur. “I do hope they don’t come out when I’m in my fox form. I don’t think my animal half is ready to fly.”
Chapter Twenty-Seven
“It’s not a good time to go flying right now.”
Dian had been particularly possessive since the whole “fae/double claiming/wings appearing” day. It was Monday morning. They were waiting on word from Rocky or Mal about the possible threat from the fae – Dian hadn’t let him out of the house all weekend. Not that Kee was confined like a prisoner – Dian was more subtle than that. But Kee’s thighs still ached from the copious fucking they’d been doing, and as far as he was concerned his tender ass was off limits for at least the next twenty-four hours, or until he’d had a chance to shift. His belly was full – Dian proved to be a remarkable cook, but…
“What’s it going to take?” Kee’s ass might be off limits, but he never underestimated the power of fluttering eyelashes. “I have wings I can’t use, a job I can’t go to, and… and… you don’t want me living in fear for the rest of my days, do you?” Flutter, flutter, and then, when Dian seemed unmoved, Kee resorted to tilting his head, staring at his mate, hoping innocence shone through his eyes.
“Mate.” Dian sighed and hung up the dishcloth he’d been using.
I have a man who does dishes. Kee did an internal romantic sigh.
“I got a text this morning.” Dian was using his patient tone. “The Concordance Group has called a press conference for eleven thirty this morning. The advice from the mayor’s office and the sheriff’s office is that you lay low until after that release.”
Kee gave up trying to look innocent. He’d learned from day two that if Dian felt the need to be overly patient, he wasn’t going to move his mountain-sized mate. “You’ve been talking to Ra and Rocky, in other words. I seriously need to wake up earlier.” He huffed. There might have been a pout involved. “The President guy isn’t going to bother us anymore, surely, and I was under the impression that the idiot who thought it was funny to follow me around has been taken care of too, right? I mean, he was stalking Ra’s kids – he’ll be lucky if he’s still breathing.”
“He would’ve been killed by now, but the human government is involved.” When Dian looked over, Kee caught the trace of impatience flashing across that rugged face.
“The perps are paranormal; the victims are paranormal. This is a paranormal matter.”
“The Concordance Group is the leading supplier of military hardware worldwide, with human government contracts spanning ten countries. Issues with the company can have ramifications on international security.”
“What has that got to do with me, or Seth’s kids?”
Dian strode around the kitchen counter, lifting Kee out of his dining chair. It was automatic for Kee to wrap his legs around his mate’s waist. “Seth’s kids are safe,” Dian said firmly. “The Brach family can’t touch them and won’t from now on. Ra, Seth, and Simon have been
