predators. Or you’ll find yourself taking home more than a suitcase.”
“Yeah.” Eagle ran his hand over his hair. “I feel like a right schmuck.” He held out the bottle of rum. “Maybe you guys can get something out of this.”
Kee took it, although he had no intention of drinking any of it. He set it on the floor. “Get to bed. Me and my mate have got a lot to discuss and we don’t need an audience.”
“Talk. Right.” Eagle laughed. “At least someone will be getting laid tonight. Cool shift, D. Very intimidating. Night, guys. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.”
Kee had a feeling that left a wide-open playing field for things they could do. He waited until Eagle had gone upstairs and then ran over to his mate. Hugging tight around Dian’s waist, he asked, “Are you okay?”
An arm behind his knee and Kee fell back, his feet off the floor, being held tight by his gargoyle. “You are amazing,” Dian growled softly. “Simply amazing.”
Chapter Nine
Kee didn’t know it, but as far as Dian was concerned, his sweet little mate would have his undying loyalty for life. No one, not even his mom, had ever stuck up for him the way Kee did. And while the rabbit’s scream and faint sent a shaft of pain through his heart, knowing the little shit was just faking helped. And Eagle’s easy acceptance... Phew.
But now, Dian had his mate exactly where he wanted him, in his arms. And Kee looked bashful, but there wasn’t a trace of fear in his scent or in his voice.
“So,” Kee’s hand rested on his cheek, “you never did tell me what gargoyles did with their mates.”
“I need to shift.” Dian headed up the stairs to the bedrooms, refusing to let Kee go now he had him.
“Do you ever… you know… in your gargoyle form?”
Dian groaned. “Can you not ask me things like that when I’m climbing the stairs. I swear my knees are going to give out just thinking about it.”
“You mean you have thought about it?” There was a definite twinkle in Kee’s eyes.
Hitting the top of the stairs with more of a thump of his feet than necessary, Dian hurried them to the room he was using. Eagle had gotten what was clearly the master bedroom, but the guest bedroom had an ensuite too. In other words, they could have some much-needed privacy.
Closing the door firmly, Dian rested Kee’s cute butt on the bed, and then knelt between his knees so they were eye to eye. I can’t believe we’re going to have this discussion. I’d have been happy with sex in my human form for the rest of our existence. Shit, having sex at all… Dian’s brain was going to short circuit with the images running rampant in his head.
“Gargoyles who mate with other gargoyles can have sex in two of their three forms, yes. However,” Dian placed his hands over Kee’s knees - this close he could smell Kee’s arousal, “between you and I, there are some definite size concerns we can’t ignore. In this form, I’m a lot bigger than my human self, and by that, I mean I’m bigger everywhere.”
“I’d noticed.” Kee grinned and wiggled his butt, causing his robe to gape open. “So, you’re not opposed to the idea, you just don’t think my cute little ass can take you in this form, am I right?”
“You’re not making this easy for me,” Dian groaned and closed his eyes, which did not help. He could picture Kee open for him, taking him, impaling him on his… “It’d be something we’d have to work up to, if you were interested. It’s a lot to take, I’m a lot to take into your body, and as my mate, I’d never want to hurt you.”
“I told you we are perfect for each other.” Kee’s soft, teasing tones had Dian opening his eyes again. “You care already, just like me.” Leaning forward, he brushed a kiss over Dian’s eyebrow ridge – first on the left side, and then on the right. Then, because he could, he dropped another kiss right on the end of Dian’s blunt nose.
“In case you haven’t noticed,” Kee’s voice was a whisper, “I am extremely comfortable with you in this form. No screaming or fainting. So, perhaps you could shift.” His fingers started walking down Dian’s chest. “Shift and see if you can find a way to make me scream with your human body? Seeing as you are so big
