in there and enjoy the same fairy-dust luck in love as we have.
Our new cottage is a few doors along from Sera’s, and is so tiny that the bathroom on Milla Vanilla is actually bigger than the one in the cottage. And there’s lots of work to do on it, but it has views of the sea, and a wood burning stove, which is perfect for our very own hearth-rug rescue dog, Tiller, who sits beside it whenever he’s not sitting on Nic or me.
And anyone who likes babies in the future is going to be happy too. No, Nic and I aren’t that quick! But when Pixie and Ewan fly down for Christmas they come with their own very happy baby news. And I know from the way Nic looked at me with his eyes all out of focus when he heard that it won’t be too long before we’ll be thinking about that too.
As for anyone who likes happy endings with rings, Nic and I came across a beautiful topaz one, with a stone that changes colour like the sea, at a vintage stall at a Christmas market. It wasn’t expensive, but it’s beautiful, and for some reason it reminds us both of my mum.
He keeps it until Valentine’s night when we stand on deck on Milla Vanilla, watching Jess’s firework display, which has already become an annual event in St Aidan’s calendar. And in the dark, as the crackling red hearts drift down into the sea, he quietly whispers in my ear and asks me to marry him. And obviously I say yes and grapple him into a huge kiss. Then as the last volleys of bangs echo around the bay, he pushes the ring onto my finger and it shows how far he’s come that he gets it on the right one. It’s a very quiet moment, but it’s filled with love. Because for us, Valentine’s night will always be extra special. And we couldn’t be any happier.

About the Author
Jane Linfoot writes fun, flirty, bestselling romantic fiction with feisty heroines and a bit of an edge. Writing romance is cool because she gets to wear pretty shoes instead of wellies. She lives in a mountain kingdom in Derbyshire, where her family and pets are kind enough to ignore the domestic chaos. Happily, they are in walking distance of a supermarket. Jane loves hearts, flowers, happy endings, all things vintage, and most things French. When she’s not on Facebook, and can’t find an excuse for shopping, she’ll be walking or gardening. On days when she wants to be really scared, she rides a tandem.
