kill us all. So help them if it was though.
"You're up, rookie, just try not to die while answering the door," I taunted and Blake cursed me as he shoved out of his seat and headed over to see who the fuck thought it was a good idea to interrupt us. I'd be sure to make their life hell tomorrow to remind them that they were not allowed to come to my fucking house under any circumstances.
"We've found an office," Tatum's hushed voice came through the speakers on my laptop and I cut a look towards the door as Blake hesitated by it before enabling the microphone so I could reply to her.
"Was it locked?" I asked because nothing of value was going to be left sitting in an open room.
"Yeah, but not well enough to count. There's something up with it though, there were a few old dudes who just came out of here, all of them smoking as they congratulated themselves on the deals they’d been making, but the room doesn't really smell of cigars," Kyan put in.
"Riveting," I muttered. "Keep looking, we have an uninvited guest who we need to deal with."
"On it. Over and out," Kyan replied and Tatum sniggered.
"You're not out, it's a live feed," I snarled for what must have been the hundredth time since he'd put that fucking earpiece in and Monroe laughed like his joke was funny. It was not.
I gave Blake a nod and he swung the door open to find Mila and Danny standing there, peering into my private space like they were looking to get their eyes gouged out.
"Oh, hey," Mila began. "Tatum left her English assignment in the library and I haven't been able to get hold of her. It's due tomorrow and it’s not finished so I thought-
"I'll give it to her," Blake said, snatching the page from her hand and moving to close the door.
"Is she here? A few of us are heading down to the common house if you guys wanted to join?" Mila asked quickly while Danny looked inclined to tug her away.
"We do not," I put in and Blake rolled his eyes at me. Apparently Tatum’s little friend and her plus one had decided to forgive us for the whole misunderstanding where she almost got a face full of piss which was a pretty smart move on their parts, but it unfortunately left me having to suffer through their company regularly once again. But not here. Never here, goddammit. I was going to have to make sure Tatum reminded them of the rules before they started to think of themselves as a part of our group or something equally abhorrent.
"Tate and Kyan are in his room, you can probably hear the bed slamming into the wall if you listen for it," Blake deadpanned. "So she can't come out to play right now. If she's got any energy left and wants to head down there later, you'll see us there."
"Okay, catch you later then." Mila stepped back and Danny drew her away as Blake closed the door.
"I will never understand the desire to show up unannounced at someone's house to find out if they're free," I muttered irritably, giving my attention back to the whispered discussion Kyan and Tatum where having while they hunted the office they'd found. “Blake, get me my vodka and a glass, will you? I need a stiff drink.”
“Sure thing, boss,” Blake agreed too easily and I caught the edge of a smirk on Monroe’s lips which had my suspicions rising.
Blake appeared with my bottle of vodka and a tumbler, placing them down beside my laptop like a well trained little puppy. It only took me a cursory glance to realise that there was at least three millimetres too much liquid in the bottle and I blew out a breath of frustration as I felt the two of them tensing up beside me in anticipation of some childish prank they’d set up. Honestly, it was like living with pre-schoolers half the fucking time around here.
I slowly pushed my laptop forward until it was sitting in the middle of the table where it would be safe, keeping most of my attention on the sounds of Kyan and Tatum searching the office as I took the top from the bottle of vodka.
Blake sniggered to himself as I began to fill my glass and I made sure to pour enough to fill it to the top. Unsurprisingly, the tart scent of my favourite
