should probably get up. Roman is never going to let you out of his sight again,” he chuckles, but his eyes still hold a haunting of sadness. Which is to be expected considering what I told him.
“I suppose.” I sigh.
“They won’t think any differently of you either you know,” he says before kissing me softly.
“Maybe,” I utter, and he rests his forehead against mine. He might be right, but he could definitely be wrong too. I’m still not completely convinced he’s not just holding it together because I ran, and he doesn’t want me to do that again.
“Stop it. I can see your mind whirring,” he says with a small smile which I match. He always did know me, better than I know myself sometimes.
“I suppose we should get moving then.”
“Indeed. At least now Nonnie can stop attacking us with that wooden spoon of hers. She’s lethal with that thing.” He chuckles softly, the shaking of his shoulders moving me with him. He kisses me again, this time I feel every piece of him with it. His sadness, his hunger, but mostly, his unconditional love. He steals my breath away, and a little piece of my heart heals with his kiss.
He pulls back and rolls us off of the bed to standing before letting me go. I sway for a second at the loss of his touch, but catch myself. “I’m going to go change. I’ll see you in a few?”
“I’ll be there. Time to face the others.”
“I can tell them, if you’d like?” he offers, but I shake my head.
“Thank you, but I think it needs to come from me. They need to know where my head was at. That I’m sorry. Plus, you were right, there’s no way Roman is going to let me off the hook even if the others would accept the story from you. His wolf won’t believe I’m really okay and here unless I tell him myself.” I sigh at the thought of saying it all out loud again, but the hurt doesn’t cut me so deep now that I’ve told Levi. I guess I really did need to do that.
“Okay, well I’ll see you in a few minutes.” He smirks at me before swatting my ass as he leaves the room.
Bloody angels.
I strip out of my clothes and jump in a super quick shower, before arming myself with a nice pair of jeans and another snarky top, courtesy of Everly. This one says more issues than vogue and it feels fitting for today. I grab another pair of fluffy socks, because they feel like another layer of armor against the crushing waves of guilt I know are coming, and head down to the kitchen.
Creek is leaving his room as I pass, and he walks with me in only a slightly awkward silence - despite his smile and the fact that he takes my hand - to the kitchen where we find the others already sat at the table. Levi and Roman with a mug of coffee each, Nonnie and Kain with a mug of blood, while she cooks whatever it is she’s making today.
“Remy girl! There you are! You sit down, I’ll get you coffee and sort you food. These broody boys have been driving me round the bend! You sit, I’ll look after you!” Nonnie fusses and ushers me into a chair while Creek chuckles as he heads to the coffee pot.
“Thank you, Nonnie. You really don’t have to though. You should sit and enjoy your own breakfast.”
“Oh hush. Let me, it makes me happy to do it.” She waves me off and heads to the stove, and Creek sits beside me, handing me a giant mug of coffee. I take a sip and sigh. It still isn’t angel coffee, but man I love it.
I feel them watching me. I look up to Levi first, because he already knows and he just smiles at me, supporting me, but not rushing me. I already know Kain and Creek will wait if I asked, but Roman is bull headed, and I also don’t want to drag this out any more than I have to. I don’t want to have to keep reliving it.
“So… I suppose I should start talking,” I say quietly. No one else says a thing, but Nonnie drops a plate in front of me, grabs her mug of blood and leaves the room. Fates bless that woman for being so kind to me.
“You don’t have to if you’re not ready,” Kain
