Bauer doesn’t deserve shit from us, any of us. He doesn’t deserve a Hunter’s burial or a memorial. He can just burn.” The pain and anger in his eyes keeps me quiet. This isn’t the time, but then, I’m not sure it will ever be the time. Colt always seems like the carefree wonder child, and for the most part that’s exactly who he is, but when he loves, he loves with everything he has. To betray that, the way our dad and Bauer have… he’s more broken than he’ll let even me see.
“We have a meeting tomorrow, the coven heads, the heirs and the elders. To try and finish sorting out this precarious treaty between everyone. If you and your guys want to come, it’d be more than welcome. Levi’s presence tends to keep the Hunters in line, and we have a lot to catch people up on.”
“You mean like me being an angel, and Creek being part demon?” I laugh as he nods and smiles. “Yeah, we’ll be there. I could probably arrange for Caleb or Morgan to attend at some point too. Get them in on the treaty. It would be nice for the peace to spread further than just here.”
“If you bring Caleb or Morgan, I’m bringing a camera, because the entire room are going to shit themselves,” he says, barely containing his laughter. He’s not wrong though.
“We’ll see how tomorrow goes, but I’m sure they’d be down.”
“You think Michael might come to the table too?” he asks.
“That might be more of a stretch. Especially with Morgan at the table. Those two… they have history.”
“Now that is a story I want to hear!”
“Maybe another time,” I tell him, just happy some of the shadows in his eyes have retreated.
“I do have another surprise for you though,” I tell him tentatively. “When I was in Avalon, we discovered a fun new power of mine.”
“The sarcasm is strong in this one,” he jokes and I swat his arm. “Oh come on, like being a conduit for Levi, and reading minds, oh wait and the healing thing. Like that’s not enough. You need to share the love.”
“Fine, I won’t tell you.” I stick my tongue out at him and he rolls his eyes. It feels like we’ve been thrown back ten years in that instant, but it brings me so much joy that I’m not even going to question it.
“Don’t be an asshole,” he says with a smirk.
“I have shadow fire,” I tell him quietly.
“Ermmmm and for those of us who have no idea what that is?”
“It’s pretty rare, and it’s one of the only things other than angel glass that can kill an angel. Typically reserved for demons, but a few angels in history have had it,” I say.
“Holy shit.” He leans back, running a hand through his hair as his eyes go wide. “So you’re like, a super badass!”
“Something like that. I’ve only had it appear once, and if I’m honest, I’m not exactly excited about using it again. So, just keep that bit to yourself, yeah?”
“Your secrets are safe with me, little bit. You know that.”
“I know.” I smile at him and he claps his hands together.
“After all of those stark revelations, I’m fucking starved. Molly’s?”
“Hell yes!” I say with a smile. “I’m driving!”
“That’s fine, I get shotgun. Driving after decimating the amount of food I plan to isn’t healthy anyway.” His eyes sparkle with laughter and I follow him out of the house.
Maybe we’ll survive this in one piece after all.
Creek pulls his truck up next to where I park Betty, in the spot where Colt and I parked last time we came to a witches meeting, apparently Colt gave in and agreed to meet them all on their ground. Another reason, I think, that he asked us to be here. Roman looks like he’s been chewing on wasps since we left. Unsurprisingly, he wasn’t exactly thrilled about this meeting, especially since he has no answers if people start asking questions about the Lycans’ loyalties. Though I doubt that’s going to come up today. I almost feel bad for Kain sitting in the truck with him and what appears to be a pissed off Creek.
Levi sits beside me looking smug as fuck, since he called shotgun first. Which probably didn’t help Roman’s mood either. I get that they’re all feeling a bit… let’s call it protective rather than the straight up insanity that it is… about me after everything this last week, and I get
