touched her cheek again. “You distract me. In fact, you were the one who distracted me that night.”
“So, you’re blaming me?” She hoped he wasn’t holding that against her, especially since she had forgiven him for breaking her camera.
“Not at all. I’m now very happy that I let you distract me, or I wouldn’t be holding you right now.”
Morgan’s heart hammered. Nervously, she licked her lips. She couldn’t see him very well, but she could feel his gaze on her by the way her body tingled. He kept his hand cupping her cheek but slid his fingers carefully behind her head and pulled her face closer to his. His lips hovered over hers for a moment and she could smell his minty breath.
Thomas’ lips touched her top lip gently and paused. The anticipation was killing her. She leaned in, swiftly connecting her mouth with his. She held his face until she could push her fingers through his hair.
A low groan rattled in his chest as his arms wrapped tightly around her. He deepened the kiss, and her heart sang with satisfaction. He was definitely one passionate kisser, and knowing that only made her want more. Never had she been taken to the moon and back with a kiss.
If someone would have told her that one day she’d be making out with a billionaire in the backseat of a limo, she would have laughed in their face. But now... now she knew there wasn’t any other place she wanted to be – and he was the only man she wanted to be kissing like this. Their mouths fit perfectly together. She fitted perfectly in his arms, too.
Gradually, their steamy kiss turned hotter, wilder. In the back of her mind, she heard the warning bells, telling her to slow down. She didn’t want to get her heart involved, although she knew it was already happening.
She tried to back away, but when she did, he pulled her against him again, continuing the wild kiss... the kiss she really didn’t want to stop. Being in his arms like this was the closest she’d ever come to Heaven, and she enjoyed the sensations buzzing through her.
When the limo came to a stop, she realized the kiss would end. For now, anyway.
Thomas pulled away first, and she shifted in her seat, smoothing down her dress with a trembling hand. She tried calming her racing heartbeat, but that particular organ wasn’t listening to her.
The limo driver opened the door and Thomas climbed out first before turning and giving her his hand. She smoothed out her hair before taking his hand and climbing out. The lights were bright out there, and the dreamy look in Thomas’ eyes made her heart flutter faster.
He tipped the driver before slipping his arm around her waist and taking her to the waiting jet for their flight home. Her fantasy night would soon come to an end. Just like Cinderella, tomorrow Morgan would be her old self.
MONDAY MORNING, MORGAN stared at her computer screen, but her mind wasn’t focused on the photos displayed in front of her. Instead, she relived her wonderful date with Thomas.
What did I do? But she already knew the answer. She’d not stopped her heart in time. Could she really be in love with Thomas in such a short time?
The weekend had been amazing. Never had she been treated with such kindness and been shown so much romance. Everything was just... perfect. No other man would be able to make her heart melt like Thomas had.
Why had she allowed him to suck her in so quickly? She’d read the tabloids and knew how many women he dated. Yet, all it took was to give her an unforgettable night – and a knee-weakening kiss – and she was trapped.
Thomas was the type of man she should stay far away from. She’d sworn not to fall for him, and yet, as she tried to concentrate on her work, all she could do was think about him and wonder when he’d take her out again.
The clicking of high heeled shoes on the tiled floor in the office brought her mind back to work, but only briefly. In Joslyn’s arms was a crystal vase with a dozen long stemmed red roses and Baby’s Breath intertwined in the roses. The spray took Morgan’s breath away.
Joslyn stopped at Morgan’s desk and sat the roses down. “Well, it looks to me like someone has a secret admirer.”
Morgan held her breath, trying to decide if Joslyn’s tone
