no decency for a person’s feelings.
Then there were the rare few that my body begged for me to send, the ones that said, I can’t stop thinking about how good you felt inside of me, or, how perfect your tongue was pressed against my clit. Instead, I’d pull out my vibrator and imagine it was him buzzing between my legs and not some battery operated piece of rubber.
“Are you going to behave yourself today?” Calvin asked, filing his nail in the seat across from me. We were on our way to the studio to record an album version of Crave with Addicts Unite, and I couldn’t keep my hands from sweating. “Gravity Records is one of the finest recording studios in the great city of Chicago.”
“Of course. I did my warm up at the hotel before we left, I got the perfect amount of sleep last night, and have been very gentle on my vocal cords.”
Calvin smirked. “I was referring to, if you were planning on distracting yourself with another board game?”
I raised an eyebrow at him. “Don’t you know, Calvin, that once I win a game, I retire as the champion.”
Calvin smirked at his fingers. “Why does something tell me that statement isn’t true?”
I crossed my arms and legs. “I’m not going to sleep with him again.”
“Kyle?”
My shoulders sagged, my eyes darting to the divider where our driver was obviously listening to the radio and focusing on traffic. “You need to stop with this.”
Calvin patted my thigh. “You know I’m just teasing you. Have you told Kyle that you’re basically going on tour with Addicts Unite?”
“Of course.”
“And he didn’t have a problem with you being around the group of guys that beat his ass at a high class night club?”
I bit my bottom lip. “He never made the connection.”
“Well let’s hope they aren’t all ever in the same room,” Calvin sighed. “Kyle’s behavior has declined compared to how he used to behave back when he was cheating on you before.”
I fidgeted in my seat. “I trust him. He said he would never be careless with my feelings.”
“Too bad you don’t return the favor.”
“It was one time,” I whispered harshly. “You said it yourself, get the sexual tension out of the way.”
Calvin lifted his head, his green eyes meeting mine. “The problem is, you still have tension. I know you’ve thought about him.”
“Have not,” I lied.
“I don’t know why you’re tormenting yourself.”
The driver stopped in front of the studio, my security guard hopping out of the front seat and opened my door.
Before stepping out, I looked Calvin dead in the eye. “This stops now. No more smart remarks. I’m with Kyle, not Jet, and that won’t change.”
Calvin frowned, but got my drift.
A sharp ache settled in my stomach. I did love Kyle, but Calvin was right. Our relationship was not the same since he’d convinced me to give him another chance, wooing me with a romantic dinner and a weekend away after Jet had coldly dismissed me once the tabloids exploited our evening together.
Kyle didn’t pay attention to tabloids either, but knew how to get their attention.
Which played another big part as to why I let him back into my life.
Kyle had photos, and threatened to expose them.
No one knew, and no one would ever know, because Kyle was who I needed to be with.
If only he made my heart pound the way Jet did. If only his fingers were as daft and agile as the guitarist who played my body like an Emmy winning song.
Taking the security guard's hand, I let him help me out of the vehicle, more paparazzi flashing their cameras and microphones in my direction.
Calvin was quick on my other side, looping his arm with mine.
“Ms. Sky, is it true you’re here to record an album with Addicts Unite?”
“Ms. Sky, will you be going on tour with the band? How will that work with your own tour schedule?”
“Ms. Sky, does your chemistry with Jet Ryder go further than the music?”
“Ms. Sky will not be answering any questions,” my security guard warned, guiding our way to the entrance.
“You know, you’d think with how high end this place is, they wouldn’t allow so much riff raff outside,” Calvin huffed, eyeing the crowd of people still standing along the floor-to-ceiling windows once we had made our way into the building.
Scooter, my manager, and Sebastian, Addicts Unite’s manager, greeted us near the elevators. “Raina, dear, you’re looking lovely,” Sebastian smiled, kissing either side of my cheeks.
I did the same to
