a little, impulsive just now.”
My eyes widened. “No, it wasn’t just you,” I said quickly. I’d basically attacked him when he came to the door. “I got carried away, too.”
He chuckled into his lap, then looked to me. “No, what I mean is, I’m not normally that greedy.”
I scowled. “I got off, if you didn’t notice.”
“I noticed.” He bit his lip as if he were trying to think of the right words to say. “I just mean,” he reached to me and caressed my cheek, “I typically like to take my time. Explore a little bit more.”
I couldn’t contain my smile. I knew what he was getting at now. “I got a little impatient,” I confessed, staring down at my hands in my lap. “Your voice, it just does something to me.”
He took his hand and forced my gaze to meet his. “Besides piss you off?”
I rolled my eyes and laughed softly, causing him to smirk. He leaned forward, kissing me sweetly, his hand still cradling my face. My skin began to heat up again, and I couldn’t help my hands from grabbing his biceps. He deepened the kiss, then reached for my hips, pulling me from under the sheet and straddling his lap.
Just as I began to grind on him again, my phone rang from the nightstand.
As much as I wanted to keep kissing him, I pulled back, resting my forehead against his. “I should get that.”
He nodded, his grip around my waist loosening. “And I should probably find my room.”
I frowned, but crawled off of his lap to check my phone. My body froze when I saw who was on the screen, quickly sending it to voicemail.
When I turned around, Jet had his t-shirt over his head. I found my own shirt and hastily threw it on, then walked toward him while he was adjusting the chain on his pocket. “So you treat your calls like I do,” he said without meeting my eyes.
“It is after midnight,” I sighed, looping one finger around the metal chain link he was fussing with. “This was rubbing me the right way.”
His hands dropped from the metal, his eyes searching my face. “Oh, yeah?”
I nodded, recalling how it was lodged perfectly between us when we were dry humping. “It was hitting my clit just right.”
Jet smirked, his arms snaking around my waist. “I’ve got a few things that could hit your clit perfectly.”
I met his grin. “I bet.”
A weird flutter formed in my stomach, but it wasn’t bad or of discomfort. It was new, and I wanted to keep its spark. Then my phone rang again, and Jet smiled. “Okay, I really should go. I’ve got a few things to work on before I fall asleep.”
“Your song?” I asked, raising a brow.
He only nodded, not disclosing any other information. It nudged at the good feeling in my stomach, but I wouldn’t let him know his secrecy was disappointing, wondering if he were writing it for another woman.
In reality, I was pushing back the uneasiness of him leaving, not knowing when I’d see him again, or if I’d ever see him again.
He tilted his head and kissed me, and by the way he locked his lips with mine, I knew he was feeling the same. We lived insane and unpredictable lives, we couldn’t let one night of passion dictate our future, even if it had never made me feel so alive.
“I better not find any paparazzi outside of your room,” he teased, kissing me one more time, but chastely on the tip of my nose.
“Don’t turn left then,” I joked, dropping my hands from his shoulders.
He slipped on his white All Star shoes, the only white I ever saw him wear, and headed for the door. “I’ll tell them we were playing Monopoly.”
I shook my head and followed him. “Only if you tell them I was the thimble.”
He scowled. “Who picks that piece?”
“The one who wins.”
He grinned at me, giving me one last kiss before he left, letting his lips linger long enough for me to grip his shirt, contemplating ripping it over his head and guiding him back to my bed.
Covering my hand, he released my lips, gripping my knuckles. “I know what you’re thinking, but we shouldn’t.”
I nodded and let go, avoiding watching him head toward the elevator.
I locked the door, then leaned my back against it. Letting out a huge breath, I wondered if I’d just made the biggest mistake of my life.
To my surprise, a pound came on it
