Gunner added, starting up another rile of laughter.
Rocket sulked, but not for long. Chase put him in a headlock, then pushed him forward toward the group of deliciously provocative women.
Gunner looked at me and shrugged, then followed Chase and Rocket.
When I took a step, I was stopped by Sebastian. “I meant what I said, be careful.”
“They’re just fucking with you, Seb. Don’t make it so easy,” I joked, patting him on the back.
His face remained serious. “All it takes is for one crazy fan to have accusations.”
“How many women have claimed to have all of our children the past five years? We know how to deal with these things, and we know how to keep them from coming true.”
Sebastian stayed tight-lipped, but nodded for me to join the others. Watching him walk toward a group of men in fancy suits, looking important. I shook my head, sometimes I wondered if Sebastian really thought we were idiots.
The group of girls were all smiles with Chase, Rocket, and Gunner, some of their eyes were peering over their shoulder’s to see me. I gave a subtle nod, but figured I should head to the restroom before joining them.
I passed by a drummer from another band in our genre. “Hey, man, you’re from Morbid, right?”
A broad smile formed on his face. “Yeah, man! I’m so stoked! Can’t wait for the tour this summer,” he said in passing, giving me a fist bump.
“It’s going to be gnarly,” I grinned, throwing him the rock-on signal.
The drummer’s eyes lit up, “Hell, yeah!” He stumbled slightly from my acknowledgement. He was in a young band opening up for us this coming tour in the states.
We were all friends when it came to rock and roll. It was about the music, not the charts. I loved that about us. We weren’t like the pop stars who fought constantly and competed with each other.
After I took a leak, I washed my hands and fussed with my hair in the mirror. It was shorter than normal, but would be the perfect length by the time we had to get on the road again. I liked it shaggy when we were on tour, but when we weren’t, I didn’t have a hairdresser to make the mess look decent.
Swooping my dark, thick locks to the side of my forehead, I checked my guy liner from earlier. Reaching in my back pocket, I pulled out my wallet and took out the small pen-like container, dabbing it around my eye. I was the only guy in the band who was consistent with wearing it, and they always gave me shit for it. I mean, why not wear it? It looked bad ass in my opinion, and it wasn’t as if I was doing it to attract women. Ever since our band had risen to the top, I couldn’t keep chicks off of my dick. I could shave my head and never shower, and they’d still be all over me.
Fixing the collar of my black button-down shirt, I felt satisfied and confident to go talk to the group of women. It’d been longer than normal since I’d been laid, and I was eager to break my streak of celibacy.
Pushing open the bathroom door, I walked through the dimly lit hallway, my feet slowing when the sound of sniffling caught my attention. It was an empty room, a lone girl sitting on an ottoman. She was hunched over, her hands on her forehead, a mop of dirty blonde curls falling around her face and well past her shoulders.
I stared at her, fighting with myself on what to do.
Walk away was my first instinct. The devil on my shoulder agreed. Damaged girls are never worth it, and are needy as shit. I had enough problems on my own, and listening to a girl’s sob story all night most definitely wouldn’t get me laid.
While the dark knight on the other side said, well, you could get laid.
Ignoring my obviously corrupted two-headed conscience, I stepped into the empty room against my better judgement. It was as if she was a magnet, pulling me into her. The air was thick, my curiosity increasing with each step.
“Hey, you okay?” I asked, immediately regretting my choice of words.
She practically jumped out of her skin from the ottoman, big, tear stained eyes staring up at me for the slightest second. They were as gray as the smoky haze over a crystal clear lake through the base of a mountain range. Her eyeliner was heavy
