my nose. I winced, and she mimicked me. “Sorry.”
Taking the bag from her, I placed it over my nose and cheeks. “It’s fine.”
“You alright, big guy?” Chase asked, smacking me on the back. I growled, the sudden movement catching me off guard.
“Yeah, I’m good. Thanks for the backup.”
“No problem. Sorry if the other guy was your friend,” he shrugged to Regan.
“He’ll be fine. He plays hockey. It’s good for him to be on the other side of a fight,” she sighed.
Chase’s eyes roamed between me and Regan, analyzing the situation. “You wanna come to the bar across town with us?”
She gazed at me, skepticism on her face. “You’re going to go out tonight?”
“Hell yeah, he is,” Chase grinned.
Rocket appeared on Chase’s other side. “If you think a punch to the face is going to stop Jet from having a good time, you’ve got a lot to learn about him.”
She dipped her chin, a bashful smile spreading across her face. “I don’t know…”
“Come on, he just got punched in the face for you,” Chase shrugged. “That’s not going to be easy for the makeup artist to cover up for the award show tomorrow.”
“Great job, gentleman,” Sebastian came flying over. “We’ve been asked to leave because of your extra curricular choices,” he fumed.
Chase held his hands in the air. “He hit Jet first.”
“Actually, I hit him,” I murmured.
Sebastian’s eyes bulged from their sockets when he saw me. “Christ! Of course you’d get obliterated. Why not make my job more difficult,” Seb dead panned, continuing to examine my face.
“It was my fault,” Regan blurted.
“Sweetheart, that’s very nice of you to take the fall, but not necessary.”
“Yeah, we’re not really in trouble,” Gunner smiled.
“That’s what you think,” Sebastian growled. “I’m sure we’ll be fined for something tonight.”
“When aren’t we fined?” Rocket laughed.
“I’m glad you all find this amusing,” Sebastian scolded. “I’ve got to come up with an explanation for your face.”
“How about, Jet Ryder, the clumsiest of Addicts Unite, gets into a fight with a wall?” Rocket laughed.
“I’m so sorry,” Regan whispered.
I nudged her with my shoulder. “It’s fine. I’d do it again for you.”
She tilted her head in awe, her gray eyes staring into mine.
“Come on, gentleman, we better get out of here. Jet, you need to see a doctor,” Sebastian ordered.
Hopping off of my barstool, I waved my hand at him and took away the bag of ice. “I’ll be fine.”
He scrunched his nose. “This isn’t a choice. Your nose is broken. I’ll call the legal team about pressing charges.”
I held my free hand in the air. “Whoa, whoa, I don’t want that. It’s fine. We’ll let this one slide. I’ll go to the ER.”
“I’ll go with you,” Regan said quickly. “I feel responsible. I’ll pay for it.”
I smiled at her sweetly. “Don’t worry about it.”
Mikey came back from dealing with Kyle. “Come on, I’ll take you to the ER. Your victim ran out on me.”
“Jet, is the victim, here,” Chase said, pointing his finger. “Not that little bitch you had to peel off of the ground.”
We all laughed, even Regan.
Chapter Nine
Jet, present
“What the fuck are you doing?” Seb blurted the moment he closed Raina’s door. His hand was on my shoulder blade, pushing me down the hall along side him.
“I… I don’t know,” I said truthfully.
“You don’t know?” he repeated in a harsh whisper. “Of all the women you could get your jolly’s off with, you have to pick the one woman whom you can’t have a negative relationship with?!”
I ran my hands through my hair and grasped the back of my neck. “It just kind of happened.”
“And with the bloody door open? Why don’t you just call the paparazzi and have them film a porno?”
“It wasn’t going to go that far,” I snapped, unsure if I believed my own words.
Sebastian came to a halt, his eyes blazing. “I don’t give a shit what you do behind closed doors, Jet, but I know how moody you get when it comes to her. Don’t fuck this up. Your sales have been on the decline and she’s the key to getting them back up.”
My brows furrowed. “Our sales are what?”
His shoulders sagged. “It’s not something I’m worried about, but we need to be on the radar. This album has taken a falling the past few weeks.”
I shrugged. “That always happens.”
Seb’s lips tightened. “We need to keep on our toes, and I can’t have you getting emotional or doing something stupid.”
I rolled my eyes. “I haven’t relapsed in years.”
“You’ve also stayed out of relationships.
