our grandkids. You take all the time you need.”
“Hey, baby girl, you ready to meet your little brother?”
With a serious look on her face, she nods. “Awon Alker.”
“That’s right.” I walk over to the bed and take my seat next to McKinley. Lex settles on my lap and looks at him, a grin on her lips.
“I wove him.” She leans over to kiss him.
“Gently, sweetheart. He’s still really little. We don’t want to hurt him.”
“I not. I wove him.” She gives me a look like I’m crazy. My daughter is so much like her mother.
“Mommy ouch.”
“Yeah, mommy ouch is all better. I love you so much, Lexi, and now we also have a little brother to love,” McKinley explains. “You want to hold him?”
My eyes go wide, but McKinley doesn’t pay any attention. “You have to sit really still and let Daddy help you, okay?”
Lexi nods and becomes still as a statue on my lap. McKinley places Walker in our arms and Lexi giggles. “Baby,” she exclaims.
She’s still for maybe a minute before she squirms. “All done,” She announces, causing Kinley and I both to laugh.
I take Walker and lift him from her lap and hold him over her head. She slides down between McKinley and me, giving her momma a big hug and a kiss. I snuggle my boy close to my chest and take it all in.
My wife.
My Daughter.
My son.

Chapter 1
Logan
Have you ever reached that point in your life when you know it’s time for a change? The point where you realize everything you’ve been fighting for is no longer worth the fight. I’ve reached that point as I sit and listen to Daniel, my boyfriend of three years, tell me once again that he thinks we need a break.
Daniel and I have been on again off again during our time together. He goes through these phases where he “needs a break” which really means he wants to stick his dick in someone else. It took me a while to realize what was happening; my friends tried to warn me, but I just would not listen. I was in love with him.
Keyword: was!
We’ve been through his ‘needing a break’ speech more times than I can count, and I’m done. Looking back, I realize it was the thought of Daniel that kept me holding on. He’s a great guy, good-looking. Tall, shaggy blond hair, physically fit. He’s good to me, well, until he decides he ‘needs a break.’ In reality, I guess I should thank him. At least he broke it off before cheating on me.
Daniel doesn’t realize I’m onto his game. Today we graduated from college. It should be a joyous occasion, and it is, but it’s hard to be all sunshine and roses when you’re in the restroom and overhear some skank announce that Daniel is just amazing and he promised that tonight would be the night. He just had to break it off with me first. The loving, longtime girlfriend, who continues to give him his space every damn time he asks for it. Me, the loving girlfriend, who believed his lies and took him back every time.
Epic fail on my part.
I should have listened to my best friend. Stacy tried time and time again to tell me the rumors she’d heard about Daniel when we were apart. I always chalked it
