answered.
Rock knelt on one side of Brady, releasing the bindings from his wrists while Moses, their medic, checked his pulse and pupils.
Rubbing his wrists, Brady almost fell forward before Rock placed a steadying hand on his shoulder.
“My head’s dizzy.”
“Normal. You’ve had quite an experience, Brady.” Moses helped him stand. “Can you walk?”
“Think so.” Taking a step away from Moses and Rock, his knees buckled. Catching him, Rock scooped Brady into his arms. “We have a van waiting.”
“He should go to the hospital, be checked over by a doctor and x-rayed for any internal injuries.” Moses grabbed his medic kit.
“Just take me home. I need to see Mom and Kat.”
Rock stopped at the front door, waiting for the clear signal from Ghost to head to the van. “Not your decision, Brady.”
The door slid open as they approached. Moses climbed inside, taking Brady from Rock’s arms to settle him on a cot, an IV and monitor next to it. “We need to get him to the hospital, Wrath.”
“Already figured. Gunner and Chaos know we found him. They’re telling the women, and will meet us at the hospital.”
“Can I talk to Mom?” Brady tried to leverage himself on the cot.
“You’ll see them in a few minutes.” Wrath climbed into the driver’s seat. “You did good, Brady.”
“They left me there.”
Brady’s words had all the men turning toward him. “Who?” Rock asked.
“A man named Salvatore Ricca and one of his men. Ricca called him Gio.”
“How long ago did they leave?” Wrath started the engine at the same time Moses slid the door closed.
“An hour or two. God, my head hurts.”
Moses checked his pupils again, then his pulse. “You have a concussion. The hospital will give you something once they check you over.”
It took fifteen minutes to reach the emergency entrance where Gunner, Chaos, Teri, and Katrina waited. Sliding the door open, the women dashed forward.
“Brady?” Teri choked out her son’s name when she saw the bruises on his face. Trying to climb inside, Chaos held her back when the technicians came rushing forward with a portable stretcher.
“I’m fine, Mom.” It was all he got out before the medical personnel took over, moving him onto the stretcher before rushing him inside.
Chapter Thirty
Two weeks had passed since the crash. Bas and Boomer were back to normal, being assigned to missions as if nothing had happened. Brady had been released after two days in the hospital and returned to school.
The house where he’d been held was in the county, meaning Ethan’s deputies swept the scene for prints and anything else to corroborate Brady’s statement. His word it was Salvatore Ricca and Giorgio Amato who kidnapped him would never be sufficient. The district attorney required proof. They’d found nothing.
Gunner and Katrina had been almost inseparable. The Brethren and Janie closed the sale of her business, which meant he spent a couple hours a day at the nursery, working his training schedule and missions.
She’d moved a few clothes to his house and spent most nights there. Teri wasn’t real comfortable with it, but they were, their relationship falling into place. Tonight, they planned a long ride on his bike before having dinner at a steakhouse an hour out of town.
Gunner wasn’t ready to propose, but he was close. Real close. They’d been together as a couple two months, yet it felt as if he’d known her his entire life. He knew Katrina felt the same because she’d said so more than once.
“Are you ready?” Gunner waited outside her front door, a broad smile on his face, admiring the way she filled out her jeans and a tight, long-sleeved white top. “You look great.”
Stepping outside, she closed the door behind her, her brilliant smile matching his. “Thanks.” The delight on her face went straight to his heart.
“Shit,” he growled a moment before snaking an arm around her waist to tug her to him. Lowering his mouth, he took hers. His mouth was warm, hungry, sending desire spiraling through them both.
Gunner had taken Katrina to bed night after night, making love for hours, knowing it would never be enough. Although he thought he’d loved Sage, Gunner had never felt this way about her. An all-consuming need to be with her, build their life together.
He couldn’t imagine a time in the future when Katrina wouldn’t be in his life. The thought didn’t scare him. It brought warmth and a sense of peace to his heart.
Raising his head, he took a small step back, breathing hard. “We better get on the road. I’ve got
