can change,” he says, and Mandy just drops the subject. I don’t let it get to me, but somehow, it does. I follow him to stage three, and I do my posts on Facebook, Twitter, and of course, my favorite Instagram. This time, I snap a shot of the stage with the caption.
“Last shot in Montana. Big Sky Country . . . you were beautiful.”
I then go and accept Carter’s follow request. My heart’s a little heavy knowing that things are going to change when we leave, but I don’t dwell on it. I post a picture of Ivan and Carter looking at a shot on camera. We say goodbye to everyone and walk out right when the sun is high in the sky. “It’s going to be a good day,” he says, getting in the car. We make our way back to the airstrip. Once there, he hands the keys to the guy who loads our bags on the plane. He waits for me to walk in front of him. “I want those jeans when you’re done with them,” he tells me when I sit down in front of him with the table between us.
“Why?” I ask him, buckling my seat belt.
“So I can burn them,” he says, glaring at me, and I just throw back my head and laugh.
“Nope, you bought them,” I remind him and then stop when the girl comes over and smiles at us.
“Welcome aboard,” she says and then her smile goes a little bit bigger when she looks at Carter. “My name is Keira, and I’ll be here to assist you with anything you need.” I roll my eyes when she emphasizes the word anything.
“I’ll have a water, and she will have . . .” Carter says, looking at me. “She will have the same.” He doesn’t even look at her. She nods and walks away. “Do you have a cat?”
“What?” I ask him and feel the plane moving. I raise the shades beside me to see that we are going down the runway.
“Prepare for takeoff,” the captain says into the speaker.
“So do you have a cat?” he asks me again.
“No,” I answer him. “Why?”
“Do you have a dog?” he asks, and I sit back in the chair as the plane takes off.
“No,” I tell him. “This is so weird.”
“What about plants?” he asks me, and I just shake my head. “Perfect. No reason for you to go home tonight.” I look at him. “Spend the weekend with me at the beach.”
“Carter,” I say and stop talking when Keira comes back with a silver tray and two glasses of water. “Thank you,” he says to her, grabbing his water and drinking it.
“Lunch will be served in ten minutes,” she says and turns away.
“I have all my stuff to wash and put away, plus I have to grab the dress for tomorrow,” I tell him.
“I have a washer and a dryer.” He smiles at me. “We can pick up your dress on the way to my house.”
“I don’t know,” I answer honestly. “What if someone catches us? I mean, in Montana it was normal for us to go home together, but it’s another story if I spend the weekend with you there. There’s a lot riding on your celibacy, you know.”
“You’re worried the paps are going to catch us?” he asks me, and I’m annoyed that he knows me. “I’ll drive the car into the garage, and no one will see us. We can spend the time in bed.” He winks at me, and I stop talking when Keira comes back and places a tray of food in the middle of the table. Then she places a plate in front of me and then totally leans over to place it in front of Carter. She turns her face so she is face-to-face with him, and I literally have to lean away as her ass is now in my face. I unclip my seat belt, which makes Carter’s eyes go big. “I’m sorry, you are making me really uncomfortable.” She looks shocked. “If you could please step away.”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean anything by it,” she says and turns back to run to the back of the plane.
“Were you going to hit her?” he asks, leaning in.
“Are you insane? I was going to go to the bathroom and throw up,” I answer him, and he laughs loudly. “That’s funny?”
“You’re jealous,” he says, and I shake my head, ignoring him, but when he continues laughing, I just
