had continuously had to look over my shoulder expecting to find him, for deep down I knew that I could have only got away with hiding from him so long. Now I just felt foolish and all of those months had been nothing but a waste of time! A time I missed out on and I hated myself for being so foolish, as I couldn't get back that time. The time that I could have had with the person I loved the most in the world!
“In truth, I feel immense guilt and shame when thinking of how I allowed myself to believe my brother to be the cause of Callon’s death. But until the new evidence that recently came to light, then I am just as guilty as the other and I tell you now, Amelia, I am not proud of this fact,” he said jarring me from my own feelings of guilt and focusing on his own.
“So you want him to come back and reclaim his throne, to make amends?” I asked.
“It is not just as simple as that,” he said as if still feeling that shame for what he was yet to say.
“How so?”
“After our brother’s banishment, our father still had a problem on his hands for after his death there would still be two kingdoms left without kings to rule them.” Oh dear, I could sense again what was coming. Which was why I said,
“Oh no, I've got a bad feeling about this.” His look said it all.
“Our father had no choice but to appoint his own brother as ruler of the Dark Fae Kingdom, something it turns out that he had been hoping for, so he could one day use this to his advantage.”
“Of course he did,” I commented dryly as it was obvious that this uncle of theirs was the bad guy in this picture.
“That he did, for he has spent this time amassing a great army, as his ambitions have now been proven to be greater and stretch much further than being content with his own lands.” And yep, there it was.
“He's trying to overthrow you… that's it, isn't it? That's the proof that's come to light! Your uncle’s ambition has proven to you that he was the one responsible for your brother’s death, not Carn’reau.” The second I said this, I saw his face and knew it to be true even without his words.
“Among other things, but yes, in this you are unfortunately correct, and as for my other brother, well…”
“Oh shit, don’t tell me, the devil of a brother is…”
“Just as ambitious to take over all our lands, including that of our fallen brother’s.”
“Gods, no offence but I thought my life was complicated.” At this he laughed once without humour.
“But wait, if your brother was killed, then who rules his Kingdom in his place?”
“That is my sister, Rina. She was born of those lands and just a year apart from Callon. She was the obvious choice for my father, but unfortunately my powers are limited in protecting her lands as well as my own, especially from my uncle’s oncoming army.”
“And what of your other brother, this Regin, won't he help you now that he knows the truth?” I questioned and this time, instead of looking amused or even upset, it was the first real time that I saw him grit his teeth and look angry. In fact, it was so scary that I was just thankful it wasn't directed at me as his eyes started to glow like blue fire. He actually had to close his eyes and shake his head a little as if to calm that beast inside him.
“It seems my brother is now in league with my uncle, as he too has a mighty force and an army of dead, ready to unleash on mine and my sister’s kingdoms. I fear that without Carn’reau’s return, then all will be lost in this realm and will soon fall to the darkness and hatred that lies within the hearts of my uncle and my brother.”
“Just as was prophesied,” I said looking down at my lap and speaking my thoughts aloud.
“Yes, this wasn’t lost on me also.”
“But I thought you said you all loved your brother, Callon. I take it that you meant Regin too?”
“Ah, but that is where it gets more complicated still, for you see the King of sinful souls, always had somewhat of a dark heart yet what light it did hold was held solely for our brother, which
