that looked naturally pink like a rose shifted to one side, as it was clear she felt uncertain of being there as I hadn’t yet said anything, being far too transfixed in looking at her. Gods, but she was like a perfect china doll, dressed like some fair maiden. But the closer I looked, the more I could see the tell-tale signs of who she may be.
Little paint splats dotted her hair and I looked to her hands to see the paint around her fingernails that she had obviously tried to scrub out but failed. This is when I smiled at her and said,
“Let me guess, you're the King’s sister and awesome artist of this place?” I thought it best to lead with a compliment, and was rewarded by her beaming smile that made me want to tip my head to one side and saw, aww. Yes, she was that ridiculously cute!
“I’m Alvena, and I take it you're Amelia? Which means we both have names beginning with A… isn’t that funny?” she said in a nervous way as if she couldn’t help rambling.
“Call me Fae, as in the name, not one of you… although I have been meaning to ask do you prefer Fae or Elves?” I said blurting it out and making her burst out laughing, instantly relaxing now she knew she was in good ‘random stuff to blurt out’ company.
“Fae is just fine. Our ancestry speak of the elvish language, which is what we are taught by our elders, but it has always been classed as the Fae Realms like the city we are in now… it's called Calidad, in case you were wondering. So, are you going to pull the chain, or should I help… oh, and that's a piss pot over there as well, you know, in case you need that… which I would, as most do I suppose when waking,” she said, now making me laugh for I think I'd found somebody as scatty as me, which was kind of a relief when finding a kindred spirit.
“Thanks, yeah I think I will, pull the chain that is and definitely need the piss pot, which we call a toilet.”
“Yes, we call it that too, but I always liked piss pot, most likely because I wasn't allowed to say piss pot when I was younger or even now really, but well we are alone and therefore now I can say piss pot as much as I like, piss pot!” I burst out laughing at this and she blushed.
“I'm sorry, there's a reason I don't usually meet other dignitaries and they tell me you're a Princess so, yeah, I can be a bit awkward sometimes, it's why I like to paint, no one really to insult there my mother says, and no awkward moments around painting. I like painting… so anyway, enjoy your piss potting!” she said, suddenly turning round and walking out the door to then groan in frustration as if she’d forgotten something, which I knew she had when she stormed back in and told me,
“I forgot the reason I came here. Well, I didn't forget the reason I came here, I just remembered the reason I came here but the part I forgot was to tell you the reason I came here… I left you a dress!” she blurted out again before shaking her hair and making her hair fly around, as if she was silently chastising herself.
“It’s on your bed, for you, erm, from me. My brother told me that you weren't wearing a nice one, so I have lots of nice ones… not to say it’s ugly or anything. Okay, well I should be going to let you…”
“Piss pot.” At this she smiled as if she too had just met a kindred spirit and said,
“yes, to piss pot…” Then she paused on her way out and told me, “I think we're going to get along really well,” and I quickly said,
“Thank you for the dress.” Strangely she waved an arm up in the air as if it was no bother and mumbled something as she left making her one of the cutest, yet strangest beings I had met so far. And I just knew that if there was one person in the world that I would love for her to meet one day, it would have been Pip.
As they too would have been kindred spirits.
In fact, I was still grinning to myself as I turned to face the rest of the bathroom and
