late, Lucifer has finished his Shift, and is towering over us in his full Devil form. I shriek as I speed up my own Shift and my Devil form rips through me. I fire off a ball of Hellfire, so large it would eradicate an entire army of regular Demons but Lucifer swats it away and fires off a similar ball in my direction.
I hold my hand out, palm outwards and deflect it, sending it flying straight back to him.
I cast a glance at Elijah, thinking he must’ve fried up to a crisp by now, but I’m shocked to see him still alive and pouncing at Lucifer, all three of his mouths wide open to chomp down on some Devil’s ass.
“Fuck!” I scream, my throat tearing in two from the sound.
Xavier is firing bolts of ice at her creator, while Killian is channeling as much of his energy into me as he can. It nearly knocks me off my fucking feet. He has juice. Mingled with mine, it is creating a power inside of me that I know I’m going to crave once this is done.
“Elijah,” I growl, the only sound I can make now with my bleeding throat.
“He’s fine,” Killian says steadily. “Use what I’m giving you.”
I nod and accept it. I trust him. It’s a new fucking concept for me. But these are exceptional circumstances.
Lucifer is struggling with Elijah, who hasn’t released him from his jaws even a tiny bit, despite having the fires of Hell singe his fur.
It makes my heart thump.
The fear that shoots through me at the thought of losing my Hellhound, makes me focus and I hold my hand up towards Killian, forming a fireball the size of Mouse. It grows and grows as Killian channels more power into me.
“Xavi,” I mutter, “get Elijah to move.”
I know I’m ready for this. I was ready to end this before Killian suped up my power. Sure, Lucifer and I probably would have battled it out for a lot longer as we’d have been evenly matched, but this is different. I can feel it.
With a loud howl, Elijah releases Lucifer and I fling the fireball at the first ruler of Hell. It seems to fly over to him in slow motion as I see and process him creating his own fireball and preparing to throw it at Elijah. Just as he is about to release it, my fireball hits him in the chest, and he stumbles back. His fireball leaves his hand, but doesn’t hit his mark square on.
“Elijah!” I rasp and lunge forward.
He was still hit, grazed down his right flank, knocking him off his feet and forcing him to Shift back to his human form.
“Fuck,” I grate out.
I step forward to go to him, but Killian’s, “No!” stops me. “Finish this!” he urges, bringing my focus back to Lucifer. I turn back to face him, my lungs searing every time I breathe in.
I got him good, but not good enough. He is recovering from the hit. “I’m going to need a bigger ball,” I whisper, swallowing blood from my torn throat.
I look back at Killian and shake my head. He must see something in my Devil’s goat eyes as he nods grimly and says, “Lock him in.”
He pulls back his magick and spins to scoop Elijah up and throw him over his shoulder. He shouts to Xavi and she runs, knowing that she needs to get out of my way.
I put my hands together and draw on the reserve of magick that runs so deep inside me, I can feel it in the pit of my stomach. The darkness washes over me. My rational thought leaves and the need to destroy rears up. I have dug as deep as I did with Leviathan and the weird thing is, I suddenly know that this isn’t it. There is more, I just need to access it.
I twist my hands and pull them apart, growing the Hellfire between my palms. I don’t give Lucifer a chance to fully get over the last one. I just throw it at him, hitting him in the face and then I run, diving through the hole in the wall that leads out of the cavern and into a smaller cave, Shifting at the same time so that I don’t kill my males.
I land on my back with a painful crunch, but throw my hands up and send a wave of power towards the cavern entrance just as Lucifer lunges for it.
I stifle
