effort and it will excite her to go on a date.”
“You seem to know her well considering you have been here so little time,” I point out.
“I do know her,” he says and goes back to the sandwich.
“Thanks,” I murmur. “You’ve helped me.”
“Happy to help,” he says and then drops his sandwich as a screech of epic proportions reverberates throughout the residence. We share a panicked look, and grabbing his arm, I transport us to the source of the scream.
Chapter 30
Annabelle
“Shax!” I shriek at him, covering my eyes. Oh, my eyes! I don’t think that I can go on with them still in my head. “What the fuck are you doing, you little shit!”
He grunts as I back out of my bedroom, stepping on Elijah’s toes as I go.
“I’m going to have to burn my sheets!” I scream, slamming the door and shutting the image of my twin fucking his Griffin-in-human-form pet on my bed. “Asshole!” I shout and kick the door for good measure.
“What’s going on?” Drescal asks as he turns up with Gregory, which I find curious.
I shudder. “I just…I can’t…”
Elijah explains it for me. “Shax and his friend are fucking on Annabelle’s bed.”
I moan as my ears burn.
“Sorry!” Shax says, yanking the door open.
Thankfully, he is fully clothed. She isn’t though, I note as I shove him roughly out of my way.
“We were making up…”
“Don’t want to know. Don’t ever use my room again for your sexcapades. It’s gross!”
“I know, I’m sorry,” he says again. “It was sudden and…” He runs his hand through his hair, giving Shadow a lingering look. “…complicated,” he finishes up.
“Well, take your complications elsewhere. I want Elijah to try and open this box,” I huff.
Shax nods and takes Shadow by the arm, leading her back to his bedroom. “Stay here. Please, don’t go until we can talk more,” he says.
She nods and he closes the door.
When he comes back into my room, I can see that his eyes are slightly wild, and he looks agitated, but I don’t have time to worry about him.
“Box,” I point to it as he falters slightly.
“Oh, yeah,” he says and shakes his head as if to clear it.
Drescal and Gregory inch closer, as Killian arrives with Aleister close behind him and then Xavi. Last to arrive is Devlin and then we are all assembled except for Sid. I was with him a moment ago, making sure he was doing okay. He was still asleep, but appeared to be at peace as Gregory said earlier. When all of this is over, I’m going to spend some real time with him.
My room is now really crowded and all I can focus on is the rumpled bed, so I clear my throat and say, “Let’s take this to the sin bin.” I don’t wait for an answer as I grab the box from where it is floating in the corner and flame out downstairs, leaving everyone to follow. I hope that someone remembers to bring Gregory.
Drescal does. He is standing quite close to my human, whether to protect him from the box or another reason, I’m glad that he is making friends here with my males.
I let go of the box next to the ‘fucking rack’, as I’ve come to think of it. It will always hold fond memories of Killian accepting that we needed to be together after he got me good on it.
“So, let’s try this again and we don’t give up until it’s done. Got it?” I snarl at everyone.
They all nod back.
“Oh, and one more thing,” I say, holding up my hand. “If you see my wings pop out…run!” I give them a bright smile and get a few snickers in return.
“Yes, Ma’am,” Devlin says.
“Okay. Shax. You bleed on the key and then Elijah, you too.”
I can see the puzzled looks, but I don’t stop to explain. I pull the key out of my back pocket and hold it out to Shax.
To our surprise, it zips out of my hand, heading straight towards Elijah, smacking him in the forehead before it hovers in front of his face
“Ow, you bitch,” he snarls at me. “You could’ve given me some warning.”
I hold my hands up. “Wasn’t me, asshole,” I remark. “It went to you on its own. You are connected to this damn thing. I think you need to be the one to turn the key.”
Suddenly, it makes perfect sense. That’s why he had it in the first damn place.
He grunts an apology at me – I
