has happened, and with my family, I realize I desperately need this hug.
"Oh my, I am sorry. My name is Everly, I look after this home for his grumpiness. No manners that one. He's stormed off to his wing of the house, let me get you settled in, and you can get cleaned up while I finish making dinner. How does that sound?" Her warm smile reaches her eyes, and I practically sag in relief. I've been so strong the last few weeks, refusing to be broken, but so much has been stuffed down, bottled up, it feels nice to be looked after.
“To his wing?” I smirk. “Of course, the Angel has wings in his house too.” She laughs at me as I roll my eyes. "But that would be lovely, thank you. I'm Remy," I say, returning her smile.
"Oh, I know, sweetheart. I've heard all about you. Now come on, you're staying on this floor, we've put you near the library and the pool. I hope that's okay? I heard you're an avid reader."
"That sounds like heaven." I sigh and follow her as she leads me down the hall to the right of this huge living room. The fact that she knows who I am, stuff about me, it all rolls off me, I don’t even question it. I guess I’m getting used to the crazy that is my life now. The hall runs the back of the house, separated by the sitting room. Windows pepper one wall, while the other holds doors, and a lot of art pieces. I try not to get distracted, hoping I get chance to explore later.
"Here you go, sweetheart," Everly says as she comes to a stop, the last door in the hall before it turns left up ahead. She opens the door, and signals for me to go in. My eyes sweep the room, taking in the sheer luxury of my surroundings. The thick quilt on the four-poster bed covered in pillows and cushions, the thick plush carpet beneath my feet. A sofa at the end of the bed, and then three other doors in the room.
"The first door over here is your bathroom, you'll find everything you need in there, but if you don't, please just ask and I'll sort it for you immediately. The second doors are the closet. Levi had me add pieces, but if they're not to your taste, you just let me know. From the looks of you, he had the right sizing. The third door is a safe room. You should never need that on this property, god knows if anyone is brave enough to attack here, the security and defenses here would take on armies with ease."
I look her and just blink, the words seeming so foreign in her soft, comforting voice, pocketing her calling him Levi for a later time. "If you head out of your room to the left, you'll find the leisure space. The pool, gym, sauna, jacuzzi, and whatever else he's had installed in there. If you follow the hall to the very end, you'll come across double doors, and that is where you will find the library." She grins at me, as if feeling my excitement.
"Now then, I will let you get cleaned up. Head back to the sitting room when you're ready and I'll get you fed, you look like you could use it."
"Thank you, Everly. So much," I sigh out, emotions warring inside of me, and she’s not wrong, these last two weeks have wreaked havoc on me. It’s going to take some serious TLC, to get my body back to where it was. Even with Hunter endurance, I didn’t exactly have body fat to spare before being essentially starved for two weeks.
"Not a worry dear. My family has looked after Levi for centuries."
"You are human?" I ask with a gasp.
"I am," she winks at me. "But don't you worry about me, I'm tougher than I look. You'll find towels in the cupboard in the bathroom. Just shout if you need anything, okay? Oh and before I forget, Levi had your cat brought here, but I have some deadly allergies, so I asked my daughter and granddaughter to keep him safe temporarily until things settle down. I hope that’s all right?"
“That’s fine. Thank you. I hope he doesn’t terrorize them too much,” I thank her.
She gives me another quick hug before leaving the room and shutting the door. I drop my bag by the closet, and head straight
