there's no rush. Sort out everything that's going on with you, I know I'm not the easiest guy in the world to be around sometimes, but I'll be here for you, no matter what happens."
I sigh at his words and close my eyes. I didn't think my heart could be any more full, but it is. It's like his words filled that last part of me that felt like it was missing.
"Thank you, I know I don't remember everything yet. But I would like to, in time. Once some of this madness is over, unless you think the memories could help with everything?" He shakes his head as his fingers trace circles on my back.
"No, with what's happening right now, your memories won't help, but after, we'll unlock everything, and I'll be there for you then too, for the stuff that might make you feel like you're going to break. I'll catch you every single time you fall."
"You know, for an Archangel of War, you certainly say all the right things to a girl."
"War is not my only skill." He smirks at me, and I laugh.
"Down, boy. We should get up and save the guys from Everly unleashing herself on them. I think she's the fiercest human I've ever known."
"That woman is a treasure, but you're right, we should get up." He pulls me close again, tucking me against his chest. "In a minute."
I sigh against his chest and enjoy the last minute of peace before what I know is going to be an insane day.
"Come on, let’s go face the day." He sighs and lets me go.
"I'm going to shower, and then I'll meet you out there," I tell him with a grin.
"Coward, you just don't want Everly to shout at you too." He laughs.
"She wouldn't shout at me. She loves me."
"That she does, Angel," he says softly. "Don't take too long. That pup of yours gets too big for his boots when you're not around to bring him down a peg or six."
"Yes, sir." I salute him, and he barks out a laugh as he leaves the room. I climb out of my clothes that I fell asleep in last night and grab the quickest shower of my life, then dress in more of the soft denim jeans from the closet and a white tank, a black shirt draped over my shoulders. I let my hair hang loose but grab a hair tie, just in case, and head out to the chaos that I have no doubt is waiting for me. I half wish I’d had gotten up earlier and gone for a morning run because I have so much going on inside of me, I could have used the tranquility of it.
I pad barefoot through the halls towards the main sitting room where I find each of them sitting in silence staring at the TV.
"Thank goodness," Everly says when she enters from the kitchen seconds after I arrive. "Will you do something with this rabble. Breakfast will be ready in a few minutes."
"Thank you, Everly. It smells divine."
"You're welcome, sweetheart." She smiles at me before spinning on her heel and heading back to the kitchen.
"I think she likes you more than me," Levi says with a grin.
"Of course, she does, I'm fucking amazing. How about we all head outside, the sun is shining, and I fancy some fresh air."
"Sounds good," Creek says smile up at me. "I've got your swords, cell, cloak, and well, all your stuff out in the truck. I was going to bring it in last night, but then everything happened..." he trails off, and I give him a small smile.
"Thank you. We'll get them in a bit. We need to talk more than anything right now." I head out the glass doors and the patio slabs warm my feet until I reach the soft lawn, where the grass is almost tickling them.
"Do you ever wear shoes, ma chérie?" Kain chuckles and I shake my head.
"Not when I can help it. There’s something grounding about being barefooted. You should try it sometime."
"That’s the wild in you," Roman says, his chest puffing up. "My kind are of nature, we love the feel of the ground beneath our feet. It’s one of the things I always loved about you, that you connect with us in that way.”
"Oh right, because loving nature is something only the Lycans can claim." Creek rolls his eyes and I cut a glare at him.
"Can you guys try, just for me, to
