raven black wings, almost identical to the dark hair on his head, with even darker eyes to match. He looks over me from head to toe, and I realize I’m filthy and I stink. Just great. Why does he have to be so god damn beautiful when I look like this?
“You need to get your things together, just some essentials, but we cannot stay here,” he says, standing tall, pulling me from my thoughts. Commanding me to move as I imagine he would a soldier in his army.
“Thank you. For saving me and everything.” I say, trying to gather myself. Less than half an hour ago, I thought I was going to die, now here I stand, alive, but unsure what is happening.
“Please, get your things. We do not have much time before they will find you,” he urges me, and strides towards the door to the stairwell. He grips the handle, and the sound of metal breaking rings through the air as he pulls the door open for me, ushering me inside.
We rush down the stairs to my apartment, and I realize I don’t have my keys. I turn to him to ask, but he rolls his eyes and steps forward. He kicks the door so hard that it flies open, and rushes me indoors, shutting it before any of my nosey neighbors come out to see what the fuss is all about and catch an eyeful of him and his insane wings.
I look around the room and my heart sinks. It’s completely trashed, and there is no sign of Sushi anywhere. The panic must show on my face because Levi sighs and pats my shoulder. “The little hellion beast is fine. He is waiting for you. Now please, hurry. I do not want to have to kill anyone today.”
"Fine, fine," I say and rush into my bedroom looking longingly at the bathroom door. A picture of me with my family from when I was younger stares at me from my bedside table, and it’s like a dagger to the heart. I knew they would react badly, but to stand by as I was sentenced like that… I shake my head and blink to wipe away the tears that threaten. I don’t have time for tears right now.
I pull a bag out from my closet and start shoving my stuff in. All the essentials that I can fit, and a little more. My cloak, my swords, my cell, all of it was taken when I got arrested. I just hope that Creek managed to keep them safe.
I try not to dwell, making one last sweep of the room. I'm not a materials kind of girl, so I don't need much, though I do grab my lavender and lily bubble bath from the bathroom.
"I'm nearly ready!" I call out when I hear a knock at the door, and then voices. I practically run into the main room and find a wingless Leviathan chatting to my neighbor. My eyes just about fall out of my head. Where the hell are his wings?
“Oh, Remy dear. I’m glad you’re okay. I was worried when I heard that ruckus.” I move towards the door, starting to close it and keeping the Angel away from my nosey as fuck neighbor.
“That’s okay, Mrs. Peterson, everything’s okay. The door was just sticking, that’s all.”
“Are you sure dear? You look a mess.”
“I’m quite sure.” I refrain from rolling my eyes. “We’re absolutely fine. Thank you for checking in. I’ve had a long day, so…”
“Yes, okay dear, as long as you’re okay. I’ll see you soon.” She eyes me, and the bag in my hand but I finish closing the door and sag against it.
“We need to get out of here,” I say.
Leviathan looks down at me, almost relieved. "Just the one bag?"
"Did you expect more?" I quirk my eyebrow at him. I don't know how we know each other yet, but if he's ever known me in my past lives, he’ll know I'm not that kind of person.
"Not really, and anything you don't have, we can procure for you once we reach the manor." He looks me over once more and wrinkles his nose. "Including a shower."
"You are such an asshole," I tell him and roll my eyes. "Are we going, your most douchey one? Or was your hurry just because of my stench."
His eyes widen, before the aloof expression takes over his face again. "Let’s go. I have no doubt the others will be anxious to see
